Found a s2000 locally here at a honda dealer. I have already gone and looked it over a couple times to just to get a couple looks at it.

Its an 05 silverstone with 22,000 miles. They are asking $23,0000 for it. Certified pre owned

The car is clean for sure. The inside is almost a 10/10. Besides a little wear on the drivers seat side cushion, from getting in and out, the interior is perfect.

The outside is clean, from 2 feet away it looks brand new. Up close it has the normal wear that a 5 year old car is going to have. I wouldn't say there are any scratches or chips, just a couple imperfections. With a buff and wax you could probably never see them.

The brake rotors are starting to show signs of wear, is that normal for a car with 22,000? That is the only mechanical "issue" i see.

Is the car worth 23k? If not what would/are you guys paying for a comparable car from a honda dealer? Of course i would make an offer on the car lower then the asking price, but if they refuse i would put on an offer of the asking price if they put new brakes on the car and buff it out.

I want a low milage (under 40,000) and would prefer a stock car. I plan on slowly modding it but i want it to "my" car and have the exact parts on it i want.

It will be my first s2000.

So to sum up this post. Is it out the lunch to pay 23k for a 2005 with 22,000 miles certified pre owned from a honda dealer?

IMO that is too much money. I looked at a one owner 05 with 18K miles. She was asking $18,500. There are many low mileage S2000 on the market. Check all the sources (i.e., local paper, craigslist, s2ki, ebay, autotrader, cars, etc.), and by patient. Of all places I found mine on aol.

almost never buy from a dealer if you're looking for a good deal..plus, you have to pay for tax.

an 05 with 22k in perfect condition could easily be around 18k. Plus, silver is the most common color, so it's not "special" in that regard.

I wouldn't pay more than 18. look at autotrader.

It depends on the market in your location too. If that car were here in Portland or Seattle, it would be for sale for at least 23k. In Cali, it might be 18-19k. It took me a solid month of searching to find my car (05 Berlina with 36k miles for 17k - Perfect shape with brand new tires), I had to fly to Reno to get it and drive it back. I was searching the entire country for one because they are just too expensive locally...

I have called the # for that 3rd one about a dozen times. Goes to a full voice mail box every time. This was 3 weeks ago when I was shopping, so its probably safe to cross that one off your list...

Just my opinion but the value of an S in good condition is going up in value.

I just sold my 07 with less than 4000 miles for $25k.

I posted my car on here and autotrader. I didn't get one response from this site
but lots of calls from all over the country with my autotrader ad.

Buyer flew in from out of state to pick it up.
I agree. I also think a lot of peoples perspectives on this site are skewed to begin with.

^ I ended up buying that '06 I mentioned a page or two back. 5k miles and it came in probably a bit over $25k (not sure exactly, as I was negotiating on the difference between my trade...we never really talked actual numbers for my E46 330i or the S2k).

Honestly, I don't regret it a bit. Got exactly what I wanted (Silverstone, Red/Black interior, super low miles, CPO, perfect interior, no curb rash on the wheels, OEM lip/side strakes/spoiler, bone stock). Got a great financing rate as well, and in the end was able to get a bumper to bumper warranty that will cover me for 4 years or 75k miles for less than $350.

Ok, perfect world maybe it would have been GPW . But with the car being discontinued, I jumped on one of what will be a dwindling number of opportunities to get a low mileage, pristine S2k.

Locally there are a couple 04 and 05's with low miles from dealers. They range from 22k to 24k. The car i am looking at is right in line with the price of the other cars. I have seen a couple with more miles, 50,000 to 60,000 priced at 18k to 19k. One of them sold and the other is not a color that i want.. At those prices i would rather spend the money to get one with lower miles. The dealers all seem to be pretty set in stone with the price of the s2000's. This one has been sitting on the lot for alteast a month so they might budge a little.

Even private party sale cars are around 20 grand for a ap2 with 30,000 miles. I plan on financing so buying from a dealer makes that easier, with a better interect rate.

I know silver is the least rare color, but it would be my color of choice.
