Well I got flaked on by the guy with the yellow one, drove 3 hours and he doesn't answer, then tells me 2 hours later he just sold it, then I get a call from his "friend" asking if I want to buy it from him... I'm now starting to look in Georgia and Alabama, seems Florida is full of weirdos

I feel like KBB numbers are reach for the sky numbers. I've never offer anything remotely near them. I paid close to the Edmunds dealer price when I got my car from a Honda dealer.

I usually buy and sell pretty close to the Edmunds prices in my town. I also adjust for market conditions using Craig's List as it seems to reflect local prices. Terms and timing also impacts final selling prices, you should be able to knock the price down if you have cash in hand and and close immediately.

Any idea why kbb values are sky high? To answer op's question though, $12,500 is probably right near the true value. I bet he'll take $11,750 if you show up with a check.

condition: paint is in perfect shape, no dings or dents. still in the process of arranging an auto shop to take a look under the hood to run some tests mechanically. might have honda do a pre purchase inspection.

listed price: $27,900

negotiated price: $23,900 + taxes/dmv stuff

*may still have more negotiating room though, still wheeling and dealing*
Aren't you missing a couple years of ownership?

Funny, that's exactly what I countered with. It's a really clean car and has a pretty solid history for the 3 previous owners. 1st owner had it for 10 years and put 40K, second was a car collector, that then sold to his co-worker.

It drives well and no apparent issues. So we shall see.

Not necessarily. The guides are just that: guides. Location impacts pricing, as with any thread on this topic. There have been a number of threads speculating on why pricing has been higher than guides in general recently.

NADA is what a bank is willing to loan out on the car...I would trust it before all others.
