It all depends if you want to pay for a CPO.
Do you want a warranty?

I bought my Certified Pre-Owned 2005 with 24k miles last year.
They were asking 22.5K but I got it for less than that.
The Honda dealer replaced all 4 tires, the battery, pads and rotors, and changed all the fluids before I picked it up.
Plus I got them to add the Honda Care warranty on top of the CPO warranty.
Now it has “almost” a bumper to bumper warranty for three years.

I’m sure you can find a comparable s2k without a warranty on autotrader or craigslist for cheaper.
But is it worth it.

.
Price is a little on the high side.
You should be able to get it for somewhere in the 19K range.
But it does depend on your location.

The warranty definitely means something to me. It will have a 3 year warranty which is perfect for my plans for the car.

The tires on the car look pretty new. Possible even changed by the dealer. The brakes will definitely have to be been done by the dealer if they want me to buy unless they drastically drop the price.

I might swing in tomorrow after work and see what i can work out with the dealer

A warranty was very important to me.
That’s why I went the CPO route even though it does cost more than a private party sale.

Check out what Edmunds (Certified Pre-Owned) “True Market Value” is for this car in your area.
That should give you a good idea.

Good luck

How's this?

Model year 2000, 83k miles, two previous owners, clean title. Supposedly never modded or tracked except for a few 1/8 mile drag races at the strip early in its life.

Soft top still has plastic window but I plan to rock a hard top for the track eventually. Tear in the driver seat and the sun visor. Front bumper faded and discolored from the sun after a repaint early on, where he swiped the curb. Clutch probably needs replacement. I will be checking it out tomorrow in person.

Guy's asking $8500 but I think I can get it lower. What would you offer?

I have a 2002 S2000 that is in pristine condition - 22,000 miles, garaged winter/summer, etc. , etc.

I checked Edmunds for a value and they estimate it at between $10,000 and $12,000, which seems insanely low. My Accord generally depreciates betwen $1,000 and $1,500 a year!

Is this a reasonable estimate? Do they really depreciate that much?

S2000's have taken a huge depreciation hit since the economy went to crap.

You could probably get $13,000 due to it's condition and lower than average mileage but not a whole lot more.

This is why I plan to keep mine indefinitely...I can't buy a nicer car for $20,000 and mine is only worth $12,000.

Wow - that's bad news!

I was guessing that it would be worth at least $20,000. I obviously don't drive it much - but maybe I should!

Thanks (I think) for the "bad" news!!

Yea I bought my 2002 in August of 2006 for $19,500 with 13K miles on it and still smelled like a new car inside. It also came with an extra set of AP1 wheels and tires. That was just an average good deal and that was 4 years ago when people still had money to spend on toy cars.

S2000 owners should keep their prices firm and not go lower then a certain price. Just like NSX owners, they just don't seem to be getting cheaper. There are obviously buyers for the S2000, always will be, and people will just have to pay the price.

We keep dropping price because certain publishings say what our cars are worth...and they are always super low. So when one guy on S2Ki posts a low sellib price everyone follows.
