-Official- Is this car worth it thread
Wow! I am seeing some incredibly low prices. Where I am (Virginia Beach) low mileage AP2s go for 18-20 and I payed a little more than that for an '06 CPO with 24K. Thought I did good for getting them to knock 3k off the asking price.
About six months ago I looked at an '05 with 75K that was a little rough around the edges. They were asking 15.9 and when I told to guy I might be able to do 12, he just said "no way" and the lowest they could do was 15.5, so I left.

Hello,
I came across a 2000 S2k with 16,000 miles on it for $14,000. It is silver with red/black interior. The guys says its in near mint condition inside and out. Nothing wrong, needs nothing. I think that price is a bit high, what do you guys think?

^ KBB thinks a 2000 with 0-60k miles is worth about $10k in excellent condition. Why they don't account for very low miles I don't know.
I would rather pay $14,000 for one with 16k miles than $10,000 for one with 60k.
There are sellers out there that will sell a 16k mile car for blue book and buyers that will pay over for very low miles.
IMHO it is a reasonable price but it favors the seller. If you're very patient you'll likely find a much better deal. If he is patient he will likely find a buyer between $13k and $14k. I was negotiating on several cars around this price/miles a few months ago and in every case the seller was firm and sold for more than I was willing to pay.

If you are looking for a fair price for the buyer and seller, and don't mind an early AP1 (plastic window, etc) I think anywhere from 11-12 would be reasonable.
I usually take the approach of "What would I be able to sell this car for quickly if ___ and I needed to sell it". That number is a good deal for the buyer. Something above that is a fair price.
The car in question would probably sell quick at $10k

I kept searching everyweek in a 100 miles radius on autotrader, craigslist, yahoo, etc till one that was worth dealing showed up. There's a lot of S2Ks around, but many have been abused, have high mileage or are way too far from you to deal with. I obviously wanted to see the car in person and drive it. I was lucky that my car's previous owner was an older lady and her brother did the deal for her. He was selling it for 17k and was nice enough to bring it down much lower. Keep looking around, eventually you'll get the one you want.
