Why buy that s2k when you can have a most likely better maintained stock (really want to drive around someones dogged race car?) AP1 with Hardtop.. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/104...hardtop-clean/
I know its mine but just saying.

While I agree with you that I would value a stock car higher, I think he could have several reasons. 1. Location. 2. AP1 vs AP2 3. Cost. Your car looks to be in excellent shape and the hardtop should help in the sale but to put your price in perspective, I bought my first AP1 with 53K miles female driven and completely stock for just under $12k 3 years ago. I sold that car this past month with a little over 65K miles for $13K. I bought my new gpw ap1 with 11k miles, oem hardtop, hardtop stand, hardtop hoist, car cover, single owner, completely stock accept for stereo which included receipts for over $3500 equipment for $20k.

Not trying to pick apart your car because I think it looks to be in excellent shape but thought I would add my opinion.

I think you make a fair assessment, but when you compare my asking price being $100 lower than the other which would you buy just from looking at the two advertisements? That thing LOOKS used while mine looks... ya know. AP1 vs AP2 is a fair argument but the 2002-2003 AP1's blue book 1-2 thousand bucks over the AP2.. that might be because it is a niche buy but none the less...

You sold your 65k mi for 13K, what year was it? Mine has hard top $3,000 quite easily from what i gather, plus the bbs rims another $1,000. I don't think my asking price is that unreasonable seeing as KBB tells me it is worth $22,500. I mean what would you do in my shoes? I don't want to be unfair to people but when these cars are being sold for +$20,000 next spring I don't want to feel like I gave away 3-4 grand!

For sure I wouldn't buy the car in the other link. However, and I think it has been said several times in this thread, KBB highly overvalues low mileage cars for the year. It really isn't accurate. Plug your car into Edmunds or NADA and see what it gets priced at. In reality it probably falls somewhere between the KBB and those other two.

My AP1 that I sold was a 2000 silverstone. I had it listed for a day before I sold it and it was not sold through this website. The one that I bought is a 2003 GPW with tan interior and 11k miles. After selling off some items that came with the car I am into it for about $16k. Which for a 2003 gpw with those miles I think it is a good deal.

I think you will be able to get close to what you are asking for your car but it just might take sometime to find the right buyer. I think you made the right decision offering the hardtop separately as you can get more out of it that way. The other option would be to put stock wheels back on and sell yours separately. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks for the advice, I'll just be patient and definetly will take into account the over valueing of KBB based on low mileage. I honestly just thought it was due to AP1's being sought after and becoming more rare, especially with low mileage. Congrats on your purchase by the way.. if that thing has a clean carfax you REALLY did well.. most classy color combo out there for a s2k.

Clean carfax and an older surgeon that owned it. He lived in a more rural area that probably didn't have a real market for the car.

Hi folks...

Just a bit of clarification. This thread is for BUYERS asking for help determining if the car they are looking to buy is worth it.

For SELLERS who are looking to determine the value of the car they are selling, those posts should go here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/102...-my-car-worth/

Thanks for your help in keeping the threads on point.
