So... 2004 Suzuka blue 44k miles, stock, very minor parking rash passenger front, new top, garaged, bought from nice retired lady who clearly babied it. 15k. Good deal?
Assuming clean title, good mechanical condition (it sounds so from the fact that she babied it), Yes. Good deal, especially in this market, this time of year.
Yes and yes...good to hear. I thought so.

Hello everyone. This posting is to get readers' opinions on an s2000 I am interested in purchasing; and, based on the details I am sharing below, what price range you would consider a good value, excellent value, or amazing value.

I am hoping to gather some opinion from those who have a good pulse on market values for clean s2000s. There are significant differences in market values posted in KBB, Edmunds, and NADA.

Here’s the car: 2001 S2000. Mileage: Between 19,000 and 22,000 miles. Interior is Black. Exterior: Spa Yellow Pearl. KBB suggested retail is $21,991; private party is at $19,941; Edmunds $10,621 for dealer and $9,149 private; and Nada’s clean retail is $13,300. It has a clean Carfax with 2 owners. The first owner was through a 3 year lease for 6,000 miles. A dealer currently has it for sale. No accidents. Let’s assume the car is truly in excellent shape with no issues, as the pictures below show.

I would greatly appreciate your replies in the following categories, based on your opinions:
What price range would fall under “good price”?
What price range would fall under “excellent price”?
What price range would fall under “amazing price”?

I have posted pictures of the car in my personal album for you to view:
https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/gallery/a...-s2000-to-buy/

I have purposely excluded the location and asking price from the dealer.
Here are the values I’ve found:
Edmunds “True Market Value”: Outstanding condition values:
- Trade in: $8,307
- Private Party: $9,149
- Dealer: $10,621
Kelly Blue Book:
- Suggested Retail, $21991; Private Party: $19,941 (excellent condition); $19,541 (very good condition); $1,241 (good)
Nada guide:
Clean-retail: $13,300
Clean trade-in: $10,950
Below is the Carfax. It shows two owners: the first was through a lease; the second owner had it until it was recently taken by the dealer (possibly a trade-in)

I thinks somewhere around the $14-$16,000 range is reasonable due to the lower miles, depending on the condition and if it has service records.

Current asking price is $16,000. Worth it?

ask for maintenance records. A new top is over $1,000 dollars. See condition of tires--they are expensive if you stick with OEM. I think it's a good deal. Provided it is well taken care of, 44k is baby miles on these cars. I see people hitting for 200k.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've kept a steady eye on the S2000 market for the last 3 years so I'll throw out my opinion -

$11,000 - $12,000 = Steal of a price (I have seen some ridiculous local deals on low mileage cars like this, but rarely)
$14,000 - $16,000 = Reasonable (I agree with zhashmi)
$18,000 - $22,000 = Steep, considering the model year

Just my ideas, hope it helps a bit.

Thanks. Reading your opinions is better than trying to reconcile all these valuations sites (Kelly Blue, Nada, Edmunds, etc) that post s2000 values thousands apart from each other.
