-Official- Is this car worth it thread - vol. 2
Hey everyone. The S2000 is my absolute dream car and I've been in the market to buy for six months now that I have the money saved. I'm looking for an S2000 as a weekend/potential track car as I have a Civic to DD. I came across this pretty girl 3 hours away from me. What do you guys think? Is she too abused? Or is this price right? http://imgur.com/uaGZXlH
I talked to the owner and he's willing to accept $8500 for it stock with just the new clutch. He is the fourth owner. I ran the Autocheck. http://www.texasdirectauto.com/listi...ap11421t009353
Any input would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Hello, and welcome.
I would have the owner take some better pictures of the car before making the three hour trip, but perhaps it is just me. I can only see the car from
one angle, and don't see any pictures of the engine bay or interior. It does look like it has potential for a track car though.

The owner mentions he was going to do a trade + cash for a truck and the truck owner had a mechanic look at his S2K. He states that the mechanic gave everything the a-okay, but ultimately didn't do the trade with cash because the truck owner wanted too much. I know it's all hearsay, but I'm hoping he has document or some type of paperwork from the mechanic. I found a local Honda dealer near him that I could set up a PPI with and get a compression test done as well. I believe the owner is okay with me doing that.
I think a PPI from the dealership, including a compression test is the way to go if you are serious about the car and think this could be the one.
If the owner is not willing to have a PPI done, it would make me wonder what he is trying to hide.
I had an inspection done at a Honda dealership before purchasing mine, and felt that it was very well worth the time and money for the added
assurance that the car was trouble free.
Edit: I noticed the rest of the pictures, and the exterior of the car looks better than I thought it would.

Looks like a good price as long as it looks as good in person as it does in the pix. Definitely have a PPI done.
You may have to replace the top at some point if the repairs don't hold up (or just drive it with the top down all the time!!)
There's a bunch of threads on here that are great reading for new owners---take a look at the threads in the blue at the top of this "S2000 Talk" as a start---there's one on buying a used S2000 and really great info under the FAQ one on problems and fixes.
Welcome to S2k!!

Edit: As honda606 pointed out, it looks like I missed that this one has a missing vin sticker, makes me wonder if it's been in an accident

I initially thought it looked nice, but if it the seller is hiding something then I'd pass.
This is one I would have to go see in person to look for overspray.

Head unit I can understand but there is no way of knowing how well the black carpet was installed. Was it as good as a factory job? Also, maybe it's just not showing well from the angle but the missing VIN sticker on the panel is a huge negative for me. This is one I would have to go see in person to look for overspray.
2003 Blue S2000
172,000 miles
In overall 'good' shape. The usual scuffs/chips from an 11 year old car. Front bumper just got repainted due to rock chips. Car runs fine mechanically, soft top has no tears, etc. Buyer wants $10,000 - thoughts?
Thanks
