That's definitely a unique paint job...

Painting over the Honda symbol might be a deal breaker. Those things hard to take off?

Posted in the intro section - but adding it here too.

2005 Silverstone, 3,981 miles, $29,700 Firm. They won't budge a damn bit on it - claiming that the "walk in" price is $31,900.

Thoughts?

I was considering it if he was willing to HEAVILY work on the price, let me get it inspected, and remove the plastidip before buying. Now I just wanted validation that I wasn't crazy after this dealership started mocking me.

Test drive it if you haven't driven an S2000 yet and then ask if they will take $20,000. If they say yes, have the car inspected fully at another shop, if they say no walk away. At least you can find out what a presumably issue free S2000 should look, run like, sound like, etc.

The fact that he mocked you should be a tell-tale sign right there. It's a tactic used by unscrupulous sales people to make you think you are being ridiculous. No honest business professional would be rude and mock anyone, and least of all a customer. Sadly, some people fall for it so the sleazy sales people use it.

That stated, I wouldn't expect him to let you remove the plasti-dip. If it is covering up a problem, he will have a harder time selling the car once you uncover it. Even if the paint *is* perfect, if his concern is that it would be harder to sell a yellow car with a black hood, then you have forced him into that situation. A mechanical inspection, on the other hand, is not unreasonable to request so long as you are paying for it.

I test drove another while I was there, the 4k miler was in the showroom. I offered them 24k and they told me to get lost.

Wow, 24k is more than I'd pay for that car, that's a very strong offer.
If you are going to budget yourself $25,000+, you might want to look into a CR model, unless that is not your thing (they come with a hard top and hold their value best). $24,000 should buy you a lower mileage AP2 *with* a hard top!!

The same dealership has a 2008 CR listed at $35k w/ 5033 miles. They had 8 of these in January and now they're down to 4. I don't know what they're doing to sell them WAY overpriced, but it's working.

It should be noted that they know what they can sell these cars for, regardless what we may think they are worth! If they are refusing these offers, then they expect and will get their asking price
