However, what I have seen in the last two years is S2000 prices going up, especially for low mileage, non-modded cars. There is simply nothing out there with what the S2000 can deliver for a comparable price. I paid 22,500 for my 18,xxx mile 07 in Jan of 2013 and with just 20,xxx miles on it now I would not consider less than 25,500 for it.

I think you are in the ballpark estimating your cars worth at $25.5K+. For me, the difference here is that the guy wants $25K for a MY'02, whereas yours is a MY'07. For reference, a local dealer here in SE NC recently had an '07 for $26.9K. Car was mint with 22K on the clock. My max price was my '02 + $8K cash or about $24.0K total. The lowest they would go was my car + $10K cash or about $26K total. The '07 also had a super used car warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles. We couldn't close the gap on price and they ultimately sold the car for circa $25.5K+.

In the market for a 4th s2000. Located in Chicago. I have had a 03,05 and 07. Looking for a ap2. Not many available.

There are two 2004 locally with under 25k miles each. Both dealers are firm at around $25000.

Also have a 2004 with 46k miles 2 owners. $20700.

The last one is a 2006 with 51k miles. Has buddy club coils, exhaust, intake. Painted door, repainted front bumper. Not in the best shape. $18999.

How much can I get a 04 or newer with under 50k? 30k? If I am willing to travel to get it.

All of those are at least several thousand more than I'd be willing to pay. Last year when I was looking for an S2000, there were several 2004's with < 50k for < $18k. And that was in California, where prices are typically higher. It took a few months of searching, but I ended up purchasing a 1-owner stock 2004 NFR with 6,500 miles for $21,250. There's no way I would have paid anywhere near $30k for it, perhaps $24k max. I did a quick search for AP2's in your area:

My first thought was, wow, have asking prices increased that much in less than a year? Some of those seem oddly high. However, there is an '04 RYP with 41k listed for $18.8k, and a couple of '06's that aren't too unreasonable, and a private party '05 with 50k for $16,500.

Best of luck to you in your search!

I am in the SF Bay Area and bought my 2004 with 47,000 miles (2 owners...I am the third) for $18,400.00 before tax/registration. This was about August 2014 (about 8 months ago).

So ive been looking for a clean, low mileage ap2, 06+. I found this: http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...73543810&Log=0
Really, its exactly what I'm looking for but for $28k.. I think its pretty over priced. Thats a price I would expect from a dealer. Am I wrong to feel that I should be able to get this car for $25k??
Thanks for the input.

Found an 04 AP2 with 77K miles. Mechanically, it looks and sounds fine but the body has a lot of cosmetic marks/scratches. Definitely wasn't repainted and all panels line up right though. New tires and brakes. Needs passenger side latch for the roof. Clean Carfax and the dealer wants $15k for it. worth it?
