well, there you have it. i'd keep this info under your hat, don't tell the dealer you know anything. see if the info he comes up with matches. or if he tries to come up with some other stories about the odometer or the mileage.

We took a look at this vehicle in late June, at the time the car was posted for 13,000. The clutch was slipping to the point the car was not driveable. The guy at the dealership gave us the same story of how the car was his uncle's and the odometer should be at 120k. With that being said, the car has been taken apart before as there are missing bolt/screws on the body of the car. The soft top was replaced with some ghetto top and is made of what looks like three different types of material, one being a very cheesy looking vinyl. I can't remember what else we saw when we took a look at it, but I would steer clear of this car.

anything here that the local consumer affairs dept or state attorney general should be apprised of, or is that naive?

isn't it amazing the levels of fraud we accept with used cars that we wouldn't accept with other products? Its like we're conditioned.

Hey guys, I have to say this is a fantastic website!
Currently I drive a 2009 bmw 328I, however my vehicle was written off the other night in a severe hail storm.. I live in Calgary AB Canada.

I'm now looking to purchase a cheaper car, at the same time a car in which I'll have alot more fun driving! I've decided on an S2k as I've wanted one for years.

My budget will be 15K, whole Idea is that I now have a car which costs me atleast half of what my BMW did.

I have some questions reguarding KM's and issues I may find.
Right now I could purchase a 2005 S2000 with 130,000 KM for 15grand
or I could purchase both a 2002 and 2003 S2000 with 77,000 km for about the same price.

I plan on keeping this car for a minimum of 5 years, whilst driving an average of 20K per year.

Will there be a significant difference between an S2000 with 77K vs 130k? Would my best bet be to find an S2000 with the lowest possible KM's given it will be my DD going forward, or will the 2005 ( newer car ) be more profound then the fact it has 50,000 extra KM on it.

Please jump in and provide me your thoughts!

There are a few other S2000's around the same price which have 90 - 100,000KM

Whichever car I get, I'll be getting a full inspection from the dealership and I will ensure it has been properly maintained over its life span. I like the Idea of the 2005 being an AP2, however I'm concerned that it will have 50xxx more KM, and right off the bat it will take 2 years off its life vs a 2002 with 77xxx km.

Thanks a ton guys!

FYI, Reason I'm shooting for S2000 as my DD is because I can, so why not!
I'm single / no familly / working as an advisor at a bank but working towards my CFA so I can become a portfolio analyst.

Previous to my 328I I had a 2007 335i which had full bolt ons + a stage 2 tune. I was pushing 450hp to the wheels. I drove that for two winters both in the city and mountains, so in comparison I know an S2000 will be a cake walk.

So I'm going to stay away with salvage title cars and cars that have been accident(s). My next target: http://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac...210220113.html

Would like to hear some thoughts.

Hey

If you guys could get me some advice on this potential S2000, it would be appreciated.

Year : 2000
Mielage : 120,000 km or about 65,000 miles
Title : Clean
Color : Berlina Black/Red Interior
Mods : intake/wheels
Condition : Interior is in decent shape besides driver seat, which has cracks/fading. Exterior has some scratches/chips

-New radiator and thermostat installed a month ago
-New soft top with glass rear window (instead of stock plastic)
-Rota SVN wheels in hyper black

Some comestic issues, paint chips, minor blemish on rear fender.

He's asking 10,500 for it.

Good deal?

Thanks guys
