Official Is This Car Worth It Thread vol 3
So it was the painted bumper and the maintainence records. Then I asked him about if he has done any maintainence such as valve adjustment and he said “it doesn’t need it”. So I got skeptical about the upkeep of the car compared to the fine examples I see on the for sale forums on this site.
Just get the car PPI'ed and you'll know everything about the car. I wouldn't let a 08 with red interior for that price go out of my sights.
I would suggest you pick that car up fast. That red interior is very desirable! And it’s a ‘08. They typically fetch a lot higher than that.
i agree an inspection will tell you everything you need to know about the car. How much was the PPI at the dealership?

$32k. It's hard for me to put a number on it because there's so few data points to reference.
BaT had a 35k CR go for $40k, a 90k CR go for $24k. eBay had a 15k mile go for $41.5k. So seemed like between the 90k and 35k examples made sense but it's just hard to say on something with so few data points I guess.

Does that car fit your wants/needs? If you want a CR and this car checks all the boxes then get it. If it doesn't, I'm sure another one will come by. But don't expect it any time soon or find a better deal. I think CR owners know what they have.
It's a very rare car that's why. I think it's fairly price to slightly a good deal.

Don't need a CR by any means, but came across it and it pique'd my interest a bit. I thought it'd be worth a little more (like $40k as you said) than BaT or eBay seem to suggest. But doesn't seem like it's a crazy deal by any means based on the limited data available. At some point between 90k and 35k the value obviously goes down significantly.
I guess I don't see where they should be $10k-$20k more valuable than a standard S2k.
I think of all the different performance cars that outperform, and are more radical and unique for the money. (Gen 2 Vipers, C6Z06, Lotus Elise) I will never own one, cause I won't pay what they are going for.
I know they are special, but IMO not that special. I think of what Honda could have done with the "last hurrah" of the S2k, and this is all we got?
Just my thoughts, from an 11+ year current owner of an AP1, that I love.

I know we are all in the S2k family here, but I just don't see the value appeal on a CR? Isn't it a limited volume AP1ish AP2, without a soft top and a unique front lip?

I'm with you on this one. Sure, they are awesome just because they are unique and harder to come by but do they warrant the enormous increase in price? I'm not knocking anyone who has one or wants one for that matter. Honestly, I like the flexibility of just being able to put the soft top up or down in seconds and have a roof over my head or not have one which is mostly the case.
