Food banks are almost overwhelmed with the increased requests from the charities they work with.
I was always surprised how expensive food was in Florida. They grow quite a bit of fresh produce there but it is not much cheaper than the food that is shipped all the way to Canada. Even Florida orange juice doesn't seem cheaper in Florida.

Thankfully, there still are lots of places that give you more for less around our area. Three of us are taking our MGs for a tour of the thumb next week starting in Frankenmuth, a city we always love.
Our local news was doing a story the other day about shrinkflation. A well known potato chip supplier was putting out 200g bags of chips with 100g of product in their bags, it is getting out of hand how much cheating is going on. One grocery store is starting to put label stickers on products they think are pushing the limits of shrinkflation just to embarrass and shame the product suppliers so consumers know what is happening.

Wow, that's really bad Joey. Least everyone think I'm cheap, $75 for dinner was not a big deal. It was the fact that we used to get a salad bar and 'all you could eat' cod for same amount perhaps about year and half ago. Looking at the new menu everything went up about 40-50%. Considering it's a very small town I wonder how long locals will support it. TBD.

Dave that makes me think of being a kid again.
Howard Johnson's used to have all you can eat fried fish flounder.
Another family we were close with would go and we'd all go nuts on the fish. so 8 kids between 8 and 16 and 4 adults.
I'm thinking they didn't make money on us.

We've noticed the same.....since Covid. Dining out has lost some of it's luster. $$$ for just a so so overpriced meal.

Exception the other night. Chicken Caprese, which I had never tried before. Large serving, $21.00 for the meal, included roasted potatoes and veggie. It was delicious and I had enough for a second meal.

We've been here a couple times. They have some interesting beverage "flights" if that is your thing.

I'm with Dave on this. I just can't spend that much on a meal out, (even for an anniversary) no matter how wonderful folks may say it is. I'd rather spend that kind of money elsewhere.

Happy Anniversary, Grant +1!

Thanks We have a lot of high end restaurants. They come and they go. Some cost more than that. This one is always good.

There are a lot of places suggesting higher tips now too, most places were using 15% on their point of sale debit machines in the past, now they are suggesting higher tip %'s like 18, 20, 25 etc.

My thinking is that with food costs going up on the menus they are getting more dollars in tips even at the same 15%, so no need to pay a higher % unless you really loved the service.

We're starting to see credit card "service charges" around here. They are adding the cost of processing to your bill.
