Guess we really got lucky for a change. Half of our sub has no elec. State had 300,000 out; now it's down to 100,000; locally there are still 20,000 without elec. My son and two of the grandkids spent the night with us as he lost elec at his house. All the schools are closed and most of the city is without power.

We got some wind but not severe. Today is breezy and going to be near 70. Tomorrow AM we are getting snow showers. Then it's chilly for a week.

Power went out about 12:30pm yesterday and I don't expect it to be fixed any time soon. (140K w/o power county wide.) We lost three 25-35' pine trees, but no damage to the house. I passed several closed gas stations this morning, but finally found one and filled three 5-gallon cans for the generator. That should keep us warm for a couple of nights. (Lows in the single digits for the next few days.) Had to carefully plan my route to work this morning to avoid towns that had declared states of emergency.

Work has power.

Good that you have a generator. I'm stubborn and have never bought one. It is 32° with snow expected this PM. Since a lot of folks won't have power restored till this weekend, some are going to need a lot of blankets.

When we first moved in to this house, we had several multi-day outages over the first few years, so I broke down and bought one. I'm stubborn too and won't step up to a whole house unit like my neighbors on either side have. Had to listen to those d@mn things run all night.

Our winds are howling today. Temps are dropping and snow is coming. 3-6" . This storm belongs to our coastal area. Tomorrow's ride to work might be messy.

We too have a small generator. Rick bought it a few years ago, but we've never had to use it. It's small but enough power to run heat, lights and keep food refrigerated.

I saw the high winds in Michigan on the National news today. Sadly 5 people were killed in Detroit from a house fire that spread so quickly due to the winds that they could not escape. Be safe and hunker down Dave.

Had to go out and secure some of the flashing on the front of the house that came loose in the wind. Wind, freezing cold, snow & ice made for not the most ideal weather to be up on a ladder. All fixed now.
