If we could manage collectively to make the low 30-35GW and peak 35GW that would be 12.5% less capacity needed to have available standing by idle i.e. not 40GW but 35GW.
Yes, cook dinner at 1am. All of us now. Seriously though you do have a point. Electricity has to be consumed as it is made generally.

some data here (I know it pulled a copy, odd behaviour)https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sour...8fFouuHYRvGV6C

The peak, post work, is there but not so pronounced as in your own house
Some public chargers are now charging 75p a kWh, that equates to very poor mpg indeed, in winter comparable to an s2000

And not comparable. However I can't see anything to trade it for. Yet.

Dog will need to get used to boosted power and the smell

What about the new Honda Civic? Hybrid with 184 bhp and 60 mpg. Very good for a petrol

Would only rent a hybrid. They are, to me, horrifically complicated. Friend had a very expensive Volvo XC90 hybrid, nothing but issues, now effectively a very expensive gas guzzler with warning lights and 30 mpg on a good day. It needed a new motor to engine clutch which was several £ thousands, just out of warranty and low miles
put me off for life
I am off back to pure ICE after this

I agree fully on the hybrid point - why two engines? But it is a Honda...

True
I drove the Jazz hybrid when the e was in for a look at it.. worst car I have driven in a long time. Comparable to my mum's up auto. Automotive turd
the HRV is based on the jazz which is an ok platform with a decent drivetrain. The 1.5 turbo is that engine but it would be a straight swap which doesn't appeal really as it has drawbacks though a better dog wagon. Bit dull though
I am slow to choose cars then tend to stick for a while. S2 since 2002, 2nd S2 since 2016 I think, XSR, 2017, e is newest, 2 years soon.

One thing that I do think is they cannot push electricity much higher or the recession becomes a lot worse than they think

£47k for the new CTR
err. Think I will pass on that. And I thought the e was daft money

Took it to the NEC, was a troubled journey 4 up and needed a little boost of charge which was hard to get. If I go to the jap show on the weekend at p'boro I'll be icing it

If you get a used relatively low mileage Tesla for 30k....

I think the Germans have got the best fuel economy with ICE cars, BMW / merc I think stand out. They are though also adopting piddling little petrol engines with a tiddly turbo to get things moving. But most get towards 60mpg. Not bad...

The price is not unexpected - I was told months ago it was going to be between 45 and 50 grand by a senior Honda bod.

The bad news, which is also not unexpected, is that dealers are only getting an allocation of one and some aren't getting any.

But on the bright side, my order was confirmed by my dealer and Honda UK earlier today!

Chris.

They won't sell many at that price anyway I guess, like the e it requires a certain type of buyer (mental)
