Honda e
It's not bad when I look. This is the universal aid, zap-map. Even applying my filters (MFG, Gridserve and Instavolt) there were several all over Newcastle from a six-station charger at Starbucks Blaydon to South Shields, a KFC. The expectation that you take on fuel at your overnight hotel is no more true with electricity than fossil. You have to seek out the fuel separately. Only Tesla with many chargers all in a row is into hotels. Your trip out to the Dales I see Darlington, Scotch Corner, Leeming Bar (though were I to relax my filters I am sure there are more it's just I don't have a smart phone so I stick to non-app chargers who just want contactless card payment.)
edit: now I've seen your trip details on the other thread I agree you couldn't do that with a short ranged BEV restricting you although the 'e' is a good car to drive.
Being 'not prepared to connect to friends leccy' is not something that bothers me, or them. Most are very interested when you ask 'would it be ok if'.
Since your car will tell you how much has been taken it is simple to offer say £1 for every three units taken so £10 to £15 overnight or a decent bottle of wine? There can be connection problems so this is in any case not something to rely on. My son's supply in Northwood fell over, his garage was full to the roof with crap but he had an extension lead to hand. It heated up too much and popped the relay after half an hour (as we found in the morning!) I now have my own 13A lead 5m to extend the Honda granny lead. I agree though more planning required but inconvenience not a lot.
Hotels in my limited experience are keen to cooperate for example moved our room to an outside cottage ground floor so we can plug in. They don't want money.
My experience of driving across the UK dates back before motorways were built. Speeds were lower but we criss-crossed England on the old Roman and stagecoach routes on our annual pilgrimage to Hereford to see Gran. My father's work took him to permanent posts in E Lancs, Norfolk and W Yorkshire in my schoolboys years and the Potteries and West Hartlepool before that. Love of geography and knowledge of England's roads dates from then. I was often the navigator (strange how wives and GFs hate that job) so sat up front. I vividly recall stopping to watch a Spitfire throwing stunts in the sky somewhere near Stony Stratford, which (I just checked) is now in the great sprawl aka Milton Keynes, where I will stop for a charge. So with the 'e' I am going back to the future.

I'll wait with BEV until there are better battery technologies - such as solid state, available. The current technology makes the cars very heavy (because of the cooling system). Heavy cars don't do well handling wise, destroy roads, eat tyres. And will use much more leccy.
The ultimate BEV for me would be a hatchback at say 1,200 kg with a range of 300 miles and a price of £ 25k. In today's money. I can wait a few years as our current fleet of cars are in fine fettle.

The little e is, I believe, 1500kg but doesn't feel it most of the time due to plank architecture and high torque.
I suspect a few manufacturers make lighter ones but also cut a lot of corners, that Fiat is a prime example. I wouldn't buy a fiat.
You may be waiting a long time alas.

There are many car brands I won't buy, Fiat being one of them. All French cars and German premium brands likewise although for different reasons. Anything made in the UK. Never a Volvo especially now as it's chinese owned. Any american. Or korean.
Volkswagen is working on a golf sized BEV that should sell for € 25k, released in 2025, and a Polo sized one shortly thereafter priced at € 22k. https://www.volkswagen-newsroom.com/...00-euros-15625
Renault is working on a 5 replacement BEV that should sell for the same monies. That is what we know. You bet all of them are working very hard to stem the chinky onslaught of cheap BEVs. Spied on? Punters don't care if it is cheap. Sweden: Byd Atto3 (me neither) outselling Tesla https://europe.autonews.com/sales-ma...opean%20market.

We filled up with fuel en route, so no real inconvenience there.
There were a couple of chargers in the National Park Centre car park (occupied by two Teslas on one day) but that was an inconvenient distance from our hotel. We could probably have charged at the hotel (indeed, two other guests had a Model / Merc EQ thing) so were obviously managing ok.
I, too, love maps and navigating - making routes for the sat nav/apps is a lovely way to do things so I can drive and she doesn't need to navigate - always a bad idea!
Sadly, the old roads are now mostly so clogged with traffic that it's hopeless - the minor roads make more sense.
Honda E kerb weight some 1750 kg - about 500kg more than what it should be

I don't know what it weighs though, the interior makes me want to throw up, and range, we'd need to test it as I'm unsure VW tell the truth
It's cheap compared to the e but that is already retired for reasons that in this thread are evident enough
People buy range. Nothing else but range.

I'm over simplifying but my point is the e fromna range perspective probably meets the needs of 50% or more 95% of the time
It wouldn't do LGs schlepp well but for the majority of his use would be better/cheaper than his golf
The idea is a car that meets 95% of your needs out the box and is optimised for such is lost on folk who think they need 300 mile range but need a dump and a burger after 80 miles of UK congestion torture
Anyways.. you will probably enjoy a BEV and maybe find some bits annoying. I bet you will prefer it to the previous car (now leccy prices are normalish)
Yes I realise Notts were you were coming from !
well the Reno has failed ! , the UK fitted alarm has , the air mass sensors in car faulty known fault ! So why not fix it before delivery ! But seems to be associated with wiring under head lining , lol should be fun , I can see then having to replace it after a numb head with big screwdriver levers it down. Have to disab,e the sensors every time we lock car , it’s easy as there is a setting for windows ajar for when kids or animals are locked in car !
