I believe I may already be at the 230whp mark with my current mods. I still have lots I would like to do that will help with adding power. Then again you never know, I guess once I dyno I will find out.

AJR PWR dynod stock at 198whp.

He added J's intake, J's Throttle Body, J's Header, J's 70r exhaust, J's ECU .... And dyno'd at 236whp.

I assume most of us are around his stock baseline. Intakes are intakes (to an extent). He DOES have the best header, and one of the best exhausts (tied with T1r 70r and Amuse), his ECU is perfect for his setup, and he has the TB.

But he could add a Hondata gasket, lightweight flywheel, and other little things I am probably forgetting to reach 240whp. Perhaps his ECU is still inferior to a tuned EMS, that I don't know.

I can't wait to dyno.
Im still debating between Proflow 66mm TB and Spoon Venturi.

I'm really not trying to be difficult because I too would like to have over 230rwhp. But I again see a lot people talking about where they think they should be, I just don't see proof. I just don't think a header, exhaust and a VAFC tune is going to get you there.

that's understandable. I will have a dyno up in a couple weeks. and actually version has minor mods, and he dynoed over 220whp. I'm sure he may post a graph for us if asked.

It seems I will have my rare part installed before the dyno, so I'm hoping for some really good numbers.

Silver - is it the intake manifold you finally got??

Yeah. VersionJDM had a K&N filter, berk TP, Spoon N1 exhaust, and a VAFCII tuned. He had over 220whp. He didn't have a snorkel, TB, flywheel, header, gasket, etc. It was on his MY02.

there are a few good threads on ecu swaps. billman states the ap2 he dyno'd went from 198 - 215 by just adding 01 ecu. that is without tuning. I dont know how many rpms he went up to. With tuning from the vafc I am sure I could get some good numbers with 01 ecu. you dont want 02-03 for an ap2 because they run lean. rich is safer than lean of course. with my vafc, i plan on only turning it on when i need to race someone or do a 1/4... whatever. This way my car will run rich without it, to be safe, then when it is on it will only run leaner for a short time. Also, by having the vafc off the majority of the time... my ecu won't learn and correct the vafc.

i really think i should be able to get over 230whp. but we will see.

Was that ECU swap done same day? I would want to see a lot of runs on it to allow the ignition advance to optimise. I know that resetting a stock ECU will sometimes allow more power initially because the timing is slightly too advanced, and takes a while to come back down / adjust. As we know, the ECU will lose its learning with a loss of power to it.

Also, if its only the AFR that is different between the ECU's (I think they changed the fuelling to make the VTEC changeover less pronounced on later cars) why not just stick with your existing ECU and use the VAFC to do the AFR. Obviously the only thing you cant do with the VAFC is the timing, but surely the older / newer ECU's cant have that much different timing?

The intake manifold thing is still a plan, but full race still has other priorities. Supposedly they have one made, but they are just to busy to do any testing right now...but as soon as I finally have info on that, I will definitly be letting everybody know.

there are actually many members tht have made it to the 230whp mark, but they just aren't apart of this thread. simple bolt-ons with a good tune and you can defenitly hit 230whp no problem.
Our goal is to go beyond that mark.

There was even a guy that made over 240whp with only header+exhaust+ems(tuned). It really depends on the parts you use, and how well your car takes those mods.
...... but in what knod of dyno? 240 in a dynapack are no thesame as 240 in a dynojet....
