I will be dynoing in the next couple weeks at the AMS dyno day. I'm hoping to have one last mod installed before the actual dyno, but I believe at my current state I am somewhere around 225-230whp. This ofcourse is without a tune, and I'd like to see how much I can make with this bad boy without having to us the EMS for tuning.

If I am able to include the next mod before the dyno...I expect even higher numbers then what I precited now.

AEM V2 CAI
Megan Header
T1R 70R Exhaust
00-01 ECU swap
VAFC-II
Hondata Gasket Heatshield
Mugen Cooling mods
Removed Slave Cylinder

I am pretty confident I will be pushing out 230whp.
And for minimal cost too

Are you sure those mods will get you 40bhp peak power gain?!

The only mods I can see that will give you gain are the AEM V2 CAI, which cant be worth that much, header worth a bit, gasket worth a tiny bit. VAFC maybe 10 bhp?

Please dont take that as being rude, but I just cant see much there to give such a big gain?

A chap here has lots of Mugen stuff on his car, ECU, cooling, intake, manifold etc and it only made 232 bhp - 10 bhp over what it was stock. (ignore numbers, the before and after is the relevant one)

He did get much better power / torque all over the curve though....

I see people getting 220+ with less.

00-01 ecu swap into ap2 seems to get decent gains
vafc will tune the new ecu even better
t1r 70r is awesome gains

We will see But I think I will

Be interested in the results!

Im leaning towards the VAFC too, the more I read about it.

I would think with only a swap of the ecu into a 00-01 that the car would actually loose power. Are there any dynoes showing otherwise??

The only way I could see the benefit is that the ap2 would now be capable of going over the cut of 8200. Although I remember a post where it showed that a stock ap2 made power up 8500, but then it would begin to drop after that.

What are the actual benefits of swapping to a older model ecu?

I wouldnt want to rev an F22c over 8500 rpm.
Id take an 02-03 ECU unless you will be tuning it right away or it's cheaper. 00-01 is too rich.

VAFC is great to tune. It's cheap, easy, etc. I'd still recommend an eManage or EMS if you have more modifications. Or of course, I am biased on my BC RS ECU w/ Vcon.

I am tuning mine soon to lean it out and reach an optimal AFR throughout the range.
Im also dynoing this April/May hopefully.

I hope to break 230whp with:

AUT Snorkel / K&N Filter (stock box gutted)
Spoon Spec Venturi Throttle Body
Hondata Gasket
Toda Header
T1r 70r Exhaust (with 70mm Test Pipe)
Comptech Lightweight Flywheel
Mugen Cooling Mods (do nothing)
Buddy Club Race Spec ECU w/ Vcon (Tuned)

I'm also trying to reach 2660LBS without stripping or changing the comfort level of my car, without me in it, but with 1/3 tank of gas and all fluids. And of course 4.44s.... Should be a fun NA car.

I haven't read every single page but I'm seeing much talk of what it takes to get over 230rwp, I just haven't seen any before and after proof. Anyone over 230 rwhp with bolt ons?

No flaming, i'm dead serious.

I'm not quite there...but I'm pretty damn close.

AEM EMS
JIC Cat-back
Test-pipe
AEM V1
Comptech flywheel

thats it, and I'm not too far off.

there are actually many members tht have made it to the 230whp mark, but they just aren't apart of this thread. simple bolt-ons with a good tune and you can defenitly hit 230whp no problem.
Our goal is to go beyond that mark.

There was even a guy that made over 240whp with only header+exhaust+ems(tuned). It really depends on the parts you use, and how well your car takes those mods.
