I had the unmodified one in the left rear, but you have to blindly do sweeps (turn, lift, turn) to adjust because it hits the rubber cover for the filler tubes. I did not like that. With the driver handle you can see how you are adjusting. I leave the hex part in the shock and just remove the handle. You can get them in and out if you pull the filler tube towards the trunk.
Mine must be the perfect length then. It engages the adjuster and bends right over the top of the adapter, so I can get it to pass under the boot for the filler neck. I don't lift and turn it, I can get it to do a 360 sweep. It's a bit cumbersome because of all the crap crammed in there, but doable.

The front Penske bodies are really short. I can't use a 6" spring and have adequate ride height. With the adjuster all the way up - the fender to hub height is 12". Leaves me no room for when its on the scales, nor does it leave room for 255's

Making some spacers today out of red glass to get another inch or two of ride height and still have adjustment with a 6" spring.

8" springs are heavy in high spring rates They have to use really thick coils.

It will be lighter to do it with the spacers, plus 6" springs are more common in the 800lb region.

I used 7" springs, Hypercoil makes 7" 2.25's in pretty high rates(I had 900lb in the front). I was pretty close to the top of the shock body though, and that included using a helper isolator.

I made my spacers just for 2.5" springs for now. I've got enough things going on.

I've got some 6" 900lb 2.25" Hypercoils that I may try in the future. I'll make another set of spacers for those if necessary.

14-15" or something like that? Measured from lower fork hole to end of body.
