I've done a Brail Battery 11.4lbs
Exhaust Cut-Off Mod
Removed Spare and Tools
Sparco Sprint and Sparco Bracket... (Probably weighs more than stock...)
Buddy Club QF's @ 14.4 lbs a piece
Tein SRC's (aluminum body... significant weight savings)

... heck... There has to be something else. I wish I'd weighed the stuff as I exchanged it / took it off.
You could do headers right? I imagine there is several lighter than the OEM one.
Also, swaybar setup. I can't remember if you have no rear bar or not. I put the standard hollow Gendron front bar on which is so much lighter than that solid bar!
Actually I have a PLM Header... forgot that that was weight reduction.
I do have a rear bar now but it's "Forged Aluminum" and weighs virtually nothing.

I of course added weight with the Gendron bar... and the Spherical bearing mounts...

2600 lbs with ~1/3 tank of gas. I still have the stock seats so I can get lower for sure. But, I'm putting the rear bar back on so that will add a few.

Annie,

Remove the rear wing and front splitter, I am estimating about 10lbs for both. Pull the Stereo, about 9lbs. My estimates for a full prep S
TR CR is around 2580.

What is your estimated weight for a fully prepped 06+ MX5? Just curious...

The front lip plus all it's 8 million screws is only 4 lbs. I haven't pulled and weighed the rear wing, hopefully I can try that soon. So 10 lbs is likely a reasonable guesstimate for both, maybe a few more than that.

I still have the AC junk from up in the dash in there, but I suspect that's only worth a pound or two. Everything is obnoxiously light, so it's now just the little stuff.

I could lose another 10 lbs in exhaust, though... but my ears would bleed, and the red blood won't match well with the blue car

If had a blank check, and could do everything, like the wheels Annie has (with special made spacers), light weight brakes, the lightest coil-overs, titanium exhaust parts, 3 lb lithium battery, seats and all the most expensive goodies out there? I have calculated, based on my current STR MX5 (which is already under 2350, haven't weighed it since a number of mods), that 2280/2290 is possible with an MX5 (base 5spd, no a/c, which mine is).

2765 with a full tank, oem exhaust, and the spare still in there (as well as a few other little things) I run without all that (weighted that stuff at 50 total) and I run with 1/4 tank (no fuel starve on my 2001) assuming that 1/4 tank on the gauge is about 4 gal and gas at 6lbs per gallon (its actually 6.175) that 48 lbs and my exhaust weighs 40lbs less than stock.... so approx 2627 without me in it, 2840 with me in it. If I got some seats and a light weight battery i could get under 2600

Sub 2600 would be nice I'd love go get in my car and be at 2700 with me in it but it would require running at 4 gallons of gas and another recaro SPG. I think on a big lot like blythville the car would fuel starve.

I think it depends car to car... One local lot is a huge, smooth, grippy, concrete lot and I haven't had an issue even when my gas gauge reads empty for a few runs in a row.

wow! I must try this asap! I'll just bring 5 gallons with me incase I do fuel starve and could add it between runs if needed. Although I'm out of racing this weekend since I bent a wheel yesterday. I should be up and running in 2 weeks
