If you really want a wing and it's not compliant with STR rules, you could set it up to be removable.

indeed, I picked up a second trunk for my wife's car so that we don't need to drill holes in the stock trunk lid.

I think that the APR GTC-200 should be legal if they do change the rules. The GTC-300 that I have is not.

Ok well i'm not here to get into an argument but...

[snip]
I am not a very fast driver but is it that wrong for a guy that has always drooled over a properly installed GT wing on a street car to make his fantasy come true?
I could just build my dream car and do time only at autocross but STR rules are really close to what I think is the ideal mods for me at the moment and it would still be more fun to be in a real class so what the hell.
Are you planning on competing at a national or divisional level? If so, two lids. At that level, something will get said, especially if you get in the trophy range.

If not, talk to your local competitors and get their okay. If they are not okay... then if you are really doing this for fun, why not go BSP? Even better yet... if the region has a street tire PAX class (which is getting more and more popular) and go BSP-T?

BTW, I so understand where you are coming from as I have a Mugen SS wing and Mugen hardtop... along with a lot of go slow electronics mods. But, when it comes to competing at the national level, I start pulling parts off.

Speaking of which... I am going to try something this year at the Dixie national tour and see if the guys won't mind if I leave the wing's rails on the lid and just pop off the wing from them and remain in BS. If there is ANY hesitation, I will take the time to take it off. In fact, I might chicken out and just suck it up and remove it like I've done every year.

How come you mounted your front canisters for the Penskes where you did, instead of on the rad support like most other people with canisters do? It seems like it would be (a lot more) difficult to adjust the compression with them there.

I like where you mounted your rear cansiters though, did you fab that bracket yourself?
The canister mounts came with the shocks when I bought them. The reason the fronts are there is because of an interference problem. The front bracket had the canister mounted using the ABS bolt that is on the frame. When I put the 255s on they rubbed the canister at full lock. I plan to get longer hoses and mount them in the nose somewhere. I really don't like having them attached to the brake lines, but it works for now. You can access the knob with the car on the ground.

I have a feeling those spring rates and sway bar combos will work pretty good. Looks good.
The ride feels great. The frequency difference front to rear with the 750/600 combo takes all different kinds of bumps with no resonance (amplifying) effect. Even on the concrete roads that typically can make for bad proposing were tame. Of course having nice shocks that are valved correctly is mandatory.

Unfortunately there is a 100% chance of rain prediction for Sunday's event. I like autocross in the rain, but not when I am trying to get the car setup.

Dave, if anyone protests you in BS for having wing frame rails on your trunk, please FIST said protester without the use of petroleum products.

Hey thanks so much you just saved me a but load of money by telling me about the APR wing.

No I am not going to be competing on a national level. That was totally my goal for a while but after driving for sometime I realized I can keep up with the faster guys on a easier open course but when it gets tight and complicated I have no chance. I recently had a top national level competitor co drive my car and I was blown away at how much faster he was.

I thought about BSP but there are some good looking bench mark drivers in my local region street touring guys so... But I might eventually go into ST-BSP if the rules get too much for me in STR or I get bored with car or get my ass kickd on a weekly bases.
