Hi, is GT type wing allowed for STR??
Wings up to 1500mm in width is ok right??

Like the Voltex GT wing 1500mm.

The rules are available for downloading on SCCA.com in the "solo" section.

I tried reading them but they seem to make everything sound so complicated to me. I don't want to spend 1.5k just to find out I cant use it. Can someone please put my mind to rest?

There is no width limit currently. The only limitation is that you must be under 5sq ft of area, measured from the longest section of the cord, multiplied by the max width.

For 2011, they are proposing limiting the wing to be less than the width of the car, and not protruding past the rear of the car.

Thank you very much. It's going to be a challenge finding out if it meets next years rule change...

If you are that concerned, don't get the wing. Unless you car is maxed out already, I would not waste your money.

Ok well i'm not here to get into an argument but...

I have a AP1 so it already looks like I don't have the right car looking @ the forums.
Thats why I only plan on doing legwork first to keep the motor safe and make the driving experience more pleasurable.
My car doubles as a track day toy and I have never driven a car with a GT wing on the track, I am very interested in feeling how planted my rear end gets with the GT wing.
I am not a very fast driver but is it that wrong for a guy that has always drooled over a properly installed GT wing on a street car to make his fantasy come true?
I could just build my dream car and do time only at autocross but STR rules are really close to what I think is the ideal mods for me at the moment and it would still be more fun to be in a real class so what the hell.

For me, my mods >> autocross' rule base or interests. I say do what makes you happy, worry about class only if autocross means a lot to you.
