S2000 STR prep resource
I must be slow, you'll have to explain your point to me.
..
okay, since you edited your post-
In that thread I provided information based on my experience in S2000s and building cars for the ST category. You responded by saying the claims were baseless and I was being nasty about it.
I only remember it because in over 9 years on S2ki and 8 on SCCAForums, both of those adjectives, while certainly not the worst, were firsts for me. In reviewing my posts I didn't see anything the least bit nasty, what I saw I would describe as "correct". Knowing what you know now, wouldn't you?
Nick, sorry 'bout that. Looks like both your cars would be under 2600 if based on delete CR's. Can't wait to see you guys go head-to-head with the Miata boys, most everybody in So Cal is doing an NC.

I thought the lightest cars were going to be in the mid 2600-lb range?

Nick's AP2 is 2670 now, 2635 with a few other mods, and it still has its A/C and top?
Perhaps those "baseless and nasty" claims were just better informed?

Which is completely within the noise of different scales if you ask me. Only advantage I have over him is the header and he has a lighter seat. I bet if we put them on the same scales - they are within 10lbs of each other.
Oh and mine definitely makes more than 220whp on a Dynojet...

There's nothing to argue Marc, the scale (and now dyno) numbers speak for themselves. Good luck everyone!
Again, the only way to truly compare is to run these cars in question on the same dyno and weigh them on the same scales. I said I was willing to do this. No one else did. So what is the issue?
I have yet to see a same day, same scale/dyno with a climed fully prepped 2400lb, 140whp Miata and a sub 2600lb, 220whp s2000.
EDIT: I went back and found I was making the "baseless" and "nasty" comments to Geoff Chambers, not you. I even thanked you for your input. This is why people need to read the whole thread instead of taking things out of context. For those who really want to clarify, PM is your friend. I also deleted the previous posts to preserve this thread ... sorry guys.

I just finished installing a T1R 70RT EM and I have to say this is the nicest exhaust I've ever seen. It shaved 41lbs off the back of the car and it's 70mm.... and here's the kicker, it's totally a livable exhaust. It doesn't have any highway drone and the sound at it's loudest is in lower RPMs. I just can't believe I can have my cake and eat it too. We're lucky to have light, free flowing, and quiet-ish exhausts available.

A dyno plot from the person responsible for bringing us the only STR legal header. Keep in mind, this is not tuned, just header/exhaust and CAI.

Take these numbers for what they are worth, scales and dyno's do vary. Our cars are still in the early stages of development, but the current numbers are encouraging.

Listen to Tommy on fine tuning it. I can vouch for his setup recommendations! He likes the car a bit on the loose side. The S2k puts down the best times IMO having mild oversteer. Push will never work for corner exit (very important for this car) so learn to deal with the tail and be brave! (not responsible if you wreck
)
Currently with street tires (stock Bridgestone RE070s 215/255), I am within 1.5 seconds (30 second course) of my B-Stock times using the same setup and settings. I can't wait to get some non staggered Toyos on there!
