FWIW I had understeer mid corner with no rear bar. I couldn't make the car work with no rear bar but a lot of people seem to think it's better.

My car feels very balanced to me but might be oversteery for some.

Is say the car is far faster in transitions and can get on the gas far sooner that with the bar, The understeer mid corner is far from terminal but I would like to find a way to get it to rotate a little more mid corner and not give up this added speed in other sections

Comparing to times, the car is definitely faster than before.

Here is a sort of explanation of my opinion of balance using my own arbitrary scale to illustrate the effect of removing my rear bar.
5 is perfectly neutral, 10 is very oversteery 0 is very understeery

Turn in
Before 8
after 5ish

Transitions
Before 9
After 5ish

Corner exit
Before 6
after 4 (but I am on the gas much sooner and thus going faster)

Mid corner
Before 8
After 4

So even mid corner is better than before but I overshot by a little and want to figure out a way to get a little more mid corner rotation

More front camber. I'd get some camber adjustment and get at least 2.4 out of the front.
That would be Ideal but I would have to skip a few events to pay for it If I want to do that this month. That may get done later in the summer, but for now I feel the seat time is more important.

[QUOTE=alvanderp,May 3 2010, 06:15 AM] Bomber - very rarely are you at any point on an auto-x course that would be considered the "mid-corner" phase.

I made a mistake on my alignment above... i have .2 deg toe in per side and 5.5 deg of caster.

[QUOTE=piston_honda,May 2 2010, 10:38 PM] However, I am curious to hear about what sorts of exhausts people are running.

Two things:

You are carrying a lot of slip angle. Do you like it that way, or are you just trying to deal with it?

Don't forget to wear your chin strap :-)
I do like it that way, but I'm going to leave it up to the car owner if he'd like to add back a little more rear camber. We're even front and rear right now at around -2.3 deg. I really like the feel of the car as it sits right now.

The green strap is for the Defnder head and neck restraint quick disconnect.

That said - you usually fix mid-phase issues with spring. You can either reconnect the bar or add some rear spring. You might also try removing some rear camber if you don't feel like messing with spring.
All of these suggestions would remove grip. The idea is to to try and increase grip on the end that's lacking grip.

Try these. Maybe you have already
Try a click or two less front rebound maybe more depending on your shocks.
Make sure you have enough bump travel and that you're not riding on or hitting the bump stop mid-corner.
You can also try adding a 2 or 3 mm spacer in front and space out the wheels if you have any room. Not sure if that's STR legal though but I don't see why it wouldn't be.
Make sure your front tire pressure is ideal. Try dropping it a bit just to see if it might help.

Hope one of these helps.

Ill try messing with the pressures at the next event. that may be just the ticket. If not Ill mess with the front shocks a little.

I'm going to go with too much rear camber.

And no, removing camber does not decrease grip at the rear of the car. It just moves the grip to another phase of the corner - think "area under the curve"
