[QUOTE=chetly,Apr 22 2010, 10:04 AM] So your running the car right now with 100 rpm lower VTEC and the 500 rpm increase?

outside of drivability are there any dangers of lowering it too far? I have heard of people going to 4k not sure what risk outside of rough idle and lower economy.

You lose power if you lower it too much without the supporting modifications. The larger exhaust you have, free flowing cat etc tend to give you more power when you lower vtec.

**** the rear swaybar right in the ear. I was fighting the car all afternoon and couldn't put power down anywhere but in a straight line. The car was pushy in slow stuff, I took the bar off and the car was 15x's better.

I could actually use the gas pedal and the front end worked so much better - it tucked in off throttle and turned mid corner without any twitchiness whatsoever. Eff that noise - that shit ain't going back on my car.

Nick, do you still have the stiffer springs in the rear with that setup, im worried with my stiffer springs up front that if I take out the rear bar I will plow like a pig

Nick, do you think it was a camber issue? Too much camber in the rear?

I just weighed my 18x9 +55 SSR comps, 17 lb on my bathroom scale

2.2deg in the rear.

Current Setup is
Front
900lb springs
2.7deg camber
0 Toe
9deg of caster
1-3/16" 37.5" Hollow Front bar

Rear
700lb springs
2.2deg camber
.1 toe in per side (1/16" total)

Tire Pressure on the Dunlops was 38F/32R - same we ran on the RE-11's last year.

I think the lack of rear bar is allowing more load transfer onto the outside front instead of sending to the outside rear. This is hitting a sweet spot on the load vs grip plot of the tire.

Nick, what front bar are you using? Do you still have that custom 3 piece you made? (Found a thread in the sandbox) Nevermind... I see that is a yes. I've been wondering if that's too much front bar (based on what others are running) but apparently it's working for you.

1-3/16 = smaller than smallest Gendron bar. I was using a 1-7/16 bar.

I would agree with Nick on his observations regarding handling.

I am running the Comptech FSB at 200% of stock stiffness (middle hole) and the rear bar disconnected. No signs of pushing any where.

Other settings...

Front
750 lb springs
-2 deg camber
0 deg toe
about -6 deg caster
dunlops at 31 lb

Rear
600 lb springs
-2 deg camber
- 1/8 toe total
no rear bar
dunlops at 28 lb

I've also been shifting the shock tuning with more compression and less rebound. Moving both together appears to keep the critical damping.

Remember that comparing tire pressures can be way off due to gauge differences. I found that I was running the same pressures as someone else that told me numbers 5 psi higher with their cheapo gauge. The best way to compare is to use your own gauge on other tires. Of course that can't be done over the internet!
