I don't mean to sound like a pig-headed 'murican v8 guy, but honestly a lot of the kind of 'ricey' stuff out of Japan really sucks.

...

If you want cheap, the best cheap option are the cheap konis. They've been proven over and over again to be adequate. And I've seen over and over again "suspension kits" like from Tein or anyone else absolutely suck.
This is 'Murica damnit!! Really though, I'm with you. I'm relatively new to auto-x / performance driving, but I'm not new to messing with Hondas and have seen enough wack stuff come out of Japan to be suspicious of quality, effectiveness, etc. I just figured I'd throw the idea out there as a possible setup because of the spring rates on them. I also wanted to see if anyone had info on their build quality. I'm not sure if this thread is the place for the discussion, but since STR opens up a ton of options for parts, it'd be nice to know what stuff to stay away from, from a quality and functionality standpoint (ie: the Saner bar sounded like it might work for this class and I came across a deal on one, but then I started reading about all the issues with it and decided to hold off on buying).

What I'm probably going to end up doing is buying used Koni's, having them rebuilt, and matching them with some springs of my preference. I had a GC/Koni setup on an Integra I used to own and I was happy with it while it lasted. The car got stolen before I could do more than a couple auto-x's unfortunately, but it did lead me to this car so it's kinda good...?

p.s. the Atlanta crew at nationals has dubed SERNick (or whatever his screen name here is) as "Stuble" for his well kept chest/abs area.

Damn I forgot about Carlisle and his antics...

I prefer "Team Topless"

Has many connotations, including one that relates to S2000's

^^ I am, kinda. I don't live there anymore, but it's where I started regularly auto-x'ing. Are you from the area? I was in the Red S2K seen in my sig competing in TAS at DR-SCCA, MSCC, and CCM events throughout last season. Detroit's got a good scene ...I miss it

For sure. Like I said, I really miss the MI scene. Good folks and I had a lot more friends that were in to it. WA is a little different; it's not a 20 minute drive to Belle Isle anymore.

Your profile says you've got a GPW (w/the tan - my first choice for S2K but I couldn't find one!), but did you have something else in the past? I don't remember too many other S2K's out there; my main competition was this guy in a silver Boxster.

yeah, i used to have the STX WRX running in PRO class. Blue with florescent orange wheels, but that car was retired two years ago (not sure if you were running back then). Last year i drove the white ASP Solstice and this year the black ESP WRX. I just got the s2k a few months back.
