I've talked to several people who swear by OEM pads for autocross.
they are retarded. stock pads absolutely blow for autocross, especially on a long fast course. i bought my cr, brought it home and swapped the pads immediately.

I don't want to name drop but one of those in particular might take Nationals this year.

so? stock pads suck. WHEN you use the brakes, they suck.

Horrendous mushy feel that is anything but confidence inspiring.

Have you tried them without the backing plates? I don't run them and although they don't have nearly as firm a feel as my cobalts I don't think they're that bad.

FWIW - autox'ing does not appear to be the only time someone is having this problem:

Cliffs: 2007 owner in brake forum can't get car to stop at random times on the street. Replaced all pads/rotors and no change in performance.

Funny, I run AX-6 F and stock rear, track and street, and 215 star specs and 255 3's and I get none of the above. I can hit abs right now and it works flawlessly. So it has to be the bigger fronts, because you cant get bigger f:r differential than I have now.

Sounds like the abs valve may be clogged (I have seen particulate matter in several s2000), abs sensor filth, or just a bad computer.
