Hey all, I run an 06 at half tank or just below. No fuel starve and ABS works like a champ. I engage abs on just about every run and typically more than once per run. I've never had any of the abs issues mentioned.

You could try the Ferodo DS2500. They come up to temp quicker than the Panther+ used to (compound could have changed) and at least they're not loud.

Which Cobalt GT? When I had the original Cobalt GT-Sport they came up to temperature immediately. I haven't used the revised compound after all the horror stories.

I think I triggered ice mode once...when I spun at 50 MPH in heavy rain.
The old GT-Sport. The Panther+ that I have bite from dead cold, the GT-Sport's did not, and were just as loud/dusty.

My Panther+ pads are getting low on life, so I may try the Ferodo's.

John - the ice mode thing seems to be specific to the 06+ cars.

Nick - I suppose it's possible it's a tire diameter issue, I have made the car do it on the street before, but it was on a 255 rear tire. I'm surprised that small difference in rolling diameter would make such a difference, but maybe it does. I'd be interested to see if you tried fixing the tire size in the FP and it fixed the issue.

The ABS on this car just sucks, I've had a few track days where the ABS will turn off one session and be fine the rest of the day. I know that it's very picky with fluid level on the track and if the fluid is below the full mark then it'll shut abs off at the track.
This is one place where my experience differs. My brake performance at track days is awesome. Never had any ABS failure or ice-mode once, and the car has seen its share of track time. Granted, I use yet another set of brake pads for that(XR2/XR5).

I'm wondering how awful it would be to try XP8's on the front of the car...

That's what I used at the last track day and before that was 12/8 carbotechs.

I have never had a ice mode issue in my 07. The only braking issues I have had were that the carbotech bobcats are total crap.

I'm going the other direction after some more thought and talking with a few people. We're going to try the BHP's up front with HP+'s in the rear. I like the BHP's a lot so I want to keep them and just add some more rear bias to see if we can get the balance back.

I've talked to several people who swear by OEM pads for autocross. As I understand it, as long as you can engage ABS whenever you need to, the pads are not a limiting factor.
