My .02, stay tighter in those sweepers so you can exit earlier. You induced some push by carrying in too much speed and it hosed you on the exit. I easily see a second left out there. Also, do not use EKU's surface to fine tune the RS3s. You fighting traction on one of the slickest surfaces I have ever driven on. I usually run my "rain" settings on that surface. I do like the aggressiveness! That is the hardest thing to teach. Don't forget to mention that you daily drive on these tires, right? It seems like most the feedback indicates the RS3s are best in the mid 30psi range.
well thanks marc! hopfully youll make it to one of our last 2 events at ckr. I can't get the hang of the slope of the ground and the off camberness of the "pad" but I'm determend to catch dave If your refering to the first sweeper (s turn) right out the gate, I tried going smoother but it made me slower. It was so tight that it was faster the way I went. Chris from louisville was over a second off me. I got 2nd in pax. maybe your talking about another part of the course? like the 2 last turns? coming down the and braking hard was my weak point. my pads are almost gone and rotors have a grove or 2 in them so I couldn't brake like I needed to. I'm thinking about some hp+'s or another set of oem honda pads.

As marc said I do dd my car with my rs-3's on. I've driven alittle over 2600 miles and done exactly 34 runs on them. (4 reruns) and I prolly lost maybe 1/32. I still have the flames on the tread.

Pad recommendation before the next event anyone?

The sweeper at 1:02. The 1st sweeper at 0:50 may have been better with 2nd gear since you had to counter steer with multiple throttle inputs with an immediate shift coming out ... this of course coming from a 1st gear nut

Keep the same settings for the Pad, work on driving. Coming to Louisville on 8/15? I would be happy to co-drive with you and give some feedback.

I tried both of them both way and the 1st gear bouncing off the rev-limiter got the job done better for atleast the attempt I tried the second gear stuff. I would love to come but my boss has me working at 1 on sunday. If it was a saterday event again I would be available but it's not Plus you pros kick my butt up there. I'll work on my driving, next year for me is when I'm gonna get serious and try to kick butt. I'm even going to some divisionals and nationals. I'm interested in meeting "thenick" hes bicycling on street tires, crazyness! I hope you kick butt at nationals marc, I saw your name listed as a good contender to have a chance at winning.

I split out the Nationals discussion to its own thread: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=808493.

Anyone else besides me and Matt having braking issues on an 06+ model? The brakes on my car are really bad. Like constant Ice Mode and lockup (not even ABS). I had the exact same pads on my 04 and never had any problems whatsoever. On the 06 - the car actually stops better if you don't hit the pedal very hard.

My buddy drove the car on Sunday and said the car stops worse than his STS CRX, ugh. And those cars have the worst brakes known to man.
So I solved my problem. Squeeze the brakes. Don't stomp on them. I didn't change a thing except my right foot. Its entirely possible to put this car on its nose if your technique is right.

Yep - the only times I create the issue is if I stomp on the pedal too fast. I still prefer the feel of the Carbo's, but you can create the same g-forces with the OEM pads if you do it right.

This seems to confirm my theory that the reason the issue went away on the Panther+'s was due to the additional initial bite causing me to naturally reduce the force of my pedal application.

This behavior is dictated by the initial bite of the pads. More bite requires a better squeeze on the egg. If the pads a pretty dead initially, stomp away.

In my experience, it isn't.

If you stand on the pedal too hard too fast on the OE pads the ABS will freak out too. It's too quick of a motion on the initial application of the pedal. If you "panic stop" an 06+, regardless of brake pad compound, you can recreate the problem(at least you can on my car).

Have you ever noticed your abs kicking in at about 5 mph or so when barely applying the brakes? Just a slow roll to a stop sign or something like that?
It doesn't happen often, maybe 4-5 times in the last two years but it's very odd and annoying as well as concerning. It'll do it with the VSA off as well as with it on.
Maybe my ABS computer has a virus?
