No one's disputing that a lighter car will be faster. However, lots of people have tried to quantify the benefits of lightweight wheels in an autocross context and been surprised at how difficult it was. Going by memory -- recent tests by Jason Isley in Sportscar and the Tire Rack guys in Grassroots Motorsports found vanishingly small benefits to having lightweight wheels (assuming your original wheels weren't boat anchors), differences which were below the noise threshold of mortal drivers like most of us.

Will lighter wheels help? Sure. But as to whether you're "screwed" because you can't get your hands on a specific ultra-light wheel -- considering the STR national championship was won in a lighter, less powerful car on heavier wheels than the ones you're looking for, my assessment is that you're not screwed.
I agree that "I'm not screwed" but I want any advantage I can have. Some would think paying double for wheels just to save a couple pounds is crazy but others will save up and try to find a set. (such as myself) On a tight course I don't think it would make a difference but on a course like blythville I think it would of made a difference.

If we didn't care about weight we would all be rocking tirerack wheels.

IMO, where Josh got hosed.... he sold his 949's go get the Buddy Clubs... and now he may not be able to find a set.

As of being screwed due to performance... meh.... not so much

I'm rocking 4 x 8.5" AP2V1. I'm using the money saved to work on that loose nut behind the steering wheel. Oh, and a nice set of re-valved Konis next season

IMHO a lot of this stuff is all within driver noise. But I've always subscirbed to the work on the driver before you drop $10,000 into the car theory (lesson from the one and only Randy Pobst there).
Any driver can be decent in a fast car.
Or you can run into the problem of having too many knobs to turn.

spending money on new fancy parts makes my car happy happy car= fast car

although after this season I'm done spending money on the car, I'm just going to work on driving.

This is what my buddy Rob says when people ask him what mods he has on his car, he says "my car is stock, I'm putting all my money into the driver"

What are you running for spring rate?

I'm running 560f & 672r and was thinking of trying 672f & 800r next
I'm refering to your sway bar setting on full stiff and the high spring rate.

I was asking you what your spring rate is but I don't have any settings on my stock bars.

To add to this point, the ST national championship was won on Rota Slipstream wheels. These are on the heavier side and one of the heaviest wheels I've seen running in ST.

one pound rotating mass is like 8-10 lbs of dry weight.
Did you make that number up or did someone else make it up for you?

Greg, that's the first time I've heard the Slipstreams described as being "on the heavier side". I remember when they came out, they were the lightest sub-$300 15" wheels you could buy...
