Finally got the camber joints on the car for an event this weekend, and with my setup it completely transformed the car removing almost all the understeer it was having.

It was at -2.6 in the front for the weekend, but I may consider going to -2.8.

Here was my fastest raw time before I just started messing around and hurling the car into things for fun in the afternoon. (8 run event, and after the morning 4 runs the car was first in S2000 class that has lots of similarly prepped STR S2Ks and .6 seconds behind Mike McShane's MX-5)

Got back from El Toro... wow, was that a learning experience. There is a ton of talent in STR. Humbling. Lot of great people though. Jim Reyenga. is a hoot.

Found out I'm also an idiot (not really news...). I'd lowered the car late last year before I parked it for the winter... and didn't think about what that might do to the suspension geometry. Turns out the whole first day we were running the rear toe'd out 1/16th... I thought El Toro was a drift event? No? Ok. Also we had -3.0 camber in the rear and -2.3 in the front... Why did I drive 900 miles to Irvine, CA again? Hmm...

Anyway, got home and started testing new stuff out... like rebound. Turns out rebound is a good thing... especially in the front. I have double adjustable shocks and I had refused to mess with rebound because I didn't understand it. Did some light reading and guess what.. I needed some rebound damping.

I also added a rear sway. Some of the STR guys in Cali might have seen me crawling around underneath there cars. Turns out, most of the fast s2000's are running the stock rear sway bars (1st,3rd,4th,etc...). In fact, every s2000 except for Jim Reyenga had the stock sway connected. Hmmm... I thought the consensus was "No rear sway."

Regardless, I found a 06+ MX5 after market "Forged Aluminum" sway bar on ebay for a dollar...(With $20 Shipping..) so I bought it. Bolted up very easy and came with the urethane bushings. Sure, it's probably made in china... but for a dollar, it works. I couldn't believe the difference. In my opinion, this car definitely needs a rear sway bar. The bonus is the dollar bar doesn't weigh even half of what the stock bar weighs.

Anyway, had a blast in El Toro. Didn't get any video... and even if I had, I wouldn't post it... because it would be embarrassing...I can't take that kind of ridicule. Everyone in STR voted on who had the sexiest car... and I won.

So, just had an event this last weekend here in Utah. Here's a video of a top pax run with the new setup (New sway bar and rebound damping!) Haven't had a new alignment though..). You'll notice I shift 1st to 2nd mid sweeper... car DOESN'T slide...can't say that's ever been able to do that before. Oh, also tried out Harrys Lap Timer Pro... still learning it. Pretty neat App for an Iphone (Thanks Peter).

Really looking forward to Lincoln.

anyone eyeing the PF01's in the +60 in a 17x9 coming out end of may? i am having a hard time deciding on the wheel setup i am wanting to run. i want the 17x9 rpf1 but im not seeing much luck with people running those without pulling the fenders (illegal from what im reading) and im not too fond of the look on the 949's. anyone got some insight im missing on fitting the rpf1's in the 17x9 with a 255 up front?

The RPF1's in 17x9 are +45 if I recall. That extra 18mm of width will kill your front fenders. They cannot fit legally. They will fit in the rear... just barely. Technically, I don't think anything other than a +48 could fit in the rear legally.

yes they are +45's. i plan on giving it a bit more camber, but the last thing im trying to do is some stupid ass hellaflush look. may just have to settle for the 949's, but is anyone squeezing those in the front with the +48 or sticking with the +63?

I went with the TSW Nurburgring wheels because I also was not a fan of the 949 look, and I think the TSW's look amazing in bronze and black. They are probably about 1 lb heavier per wheel though, but they are really cheap also which was nice. I got a 4 new TSW wheels with new RS3's mounted, balanced, shipped for around $1200.

Mike what are you using for video? The video looks great. Any link to how to over lap the Harrsa lap timer pro with video? I haven't downloaded the app yet so it might be self explanatory lol.

Pic of my car about half way down. The thread is full of other examples too. The pic I took is hugely under lit, and corrected on a computer, so not exactly true to life. I haven't taken any other shots yet.
