Nick,
Thanks for the info. I am learning a ton right now, and starting to think about building my S versus the MX5.
I am going to assume the exhaust you are talking about is a single set-up. Any recomendations for an affordable dual exhaust? Quiet is good
My plan for the Flash Pro was to run the Toda set-up to start, then have the car tuned by a good dyno shop. Their Toda program will give me great results to start off with, I have seen some dyno plots and it looks very good, really fattens up the mid range.

Yeah, I think it's pretty clear the spokes will be under a higher bending load with a higher positive offset. And it's the same bending direction as the spokes are loaded while cornering, so the vertical wheel load and the cornering load add up.
My belief/hope is that between being on street tires, the 'relatively' low weight of the S2000 and typical factor of safety in a wheel design, they should be "fine." But, either way, I plan on looking at them pretty close for the first few events.

We have the Mugen dual on our car, and it is not much louder than stock.

I figure STR is the best compromise between a "safe" HPDE car and a fun autocrosser

I loved my Mugen when I had it and I really want one for the new car, I just can't get past the look of the AP2 version. I have just installed a Fujitsubo Legalis on my friends S and I'm quite impressed with it. It looks pretty good in person (still maybe a little shiny for me, but at least the mufflers look like mufflers and not large chrome pillows under the car) and it sounds pretty good too. It's not much louder than stock, just a deeper tone, less metallic sounding. Just tossing that out there as an alternative. If I can't get over my feelings for the AP2 Mugen (or the price) I'll put the Fuji on my car too.
My S2000 sold yesterday, so the autocross gods have spoken. I will be racing in STR next season, but it will be an MX5.
I drove a stock MSR on Kumho XS yesterday, and it was very fast, I think it would have been faster than my S2000, judging by the other cars I race against on street tires. I never got the chance to do a head to head with the 2 cars on the same tires. If the MSR was on Dunlops, it would have been even faster, scary, truly scary.
So, with that news, does anyone know of a good 06+ 5 spd MX5 for sale?

Jeff, it's going to be fun running against you this year. Hopefully we can keep it close between the two cars, I still have faith in the s2000.
I got the widened RPF1s mounted this weekend. I'll post up pictures tomorrow. I already have longer wheel studs in the mail (and wheel bearings, since I might as well do them while I'm there). I had to use a 5mm spacer, and right now I'm uncomfortable with the amount of thread engagement I have (about 7mm).
With a 5mm spacer the wheels seem to just barely kiss the front spring perch when turned. Hopefully that will get fixed with the Penske's and 2.5" springs. I also haven't touched the fenders yet. 95% sure I won't have to touch the rears, and about 50% thinking I'll be able to get away with it on the fronts. I'll know more once the car gets low and I push it in some corners.
