Very interesting.
Thanks
Jon,
You probably should mention I ran only one session (4 runs and one of those I was red flagged and didn't redo it), whereas you ran 3 sessions (12 runs). Not a biggie but I know I would have gone faster and that was a power course, not your typical solo course. Of course, your car is gonna get faster.
What was interesting was I ran within 0.1s in the Steve O'Blenes STX RX-8 to my fastest in the MX-5 (71.4 to 71.3). 9000 rpm allowed me to wind it out and he is down on power since one of his coils needs to be changed out. And his Hankooks were shot too. What a surprise that was gotta say.
I think that means you ran a 71.0 on run#?

I'm going to do it very soon, like probably next week. Maybe if we see each other at an autocross you can see how it is.

The mugen catback is what i ended up getting after experiencing 2 exhausts. I had a Trust Extreme Power Ti and it was unbearable for me to daily drive in and rode in a friends car with the T1R 70mm. Bob Endicott had the mugen catback so i took a ride with him and was surprised how subtle the tone was and so i decided to get one. Sorry if that was misleading to my "budget setup" its just what i decided to get. Definitely the budget exhaust would be the stock cutoff.

Steve and I may be attending the 11/6 event at Warminster; weather permitting of course. So ya, maybe.
Thanks for the link
Re: bumper cover rule for ST
So I posed my bumper cover question to some folks over at SCCA that I found on the scca.com website. I just received a reply from Brian Harmer, SCCA Technical Services Specialist is his title, according to his e-mail signature.
Thought I'd share this in this thread with everyone.
This is the e-mail thread: The question I posed to him is below his response.

Hi, Rad,
The way that I read it model is the whole model and not just the year. So an S2000 would be a model. An MX5 (06-11) would be a model.

Subject: Question regarding ST rule
Hi,
Please accept my apologies ahead of time if you are not the proper persons to answer my question. If you are not, can you possibly point me in the right direction?
My question:
I have a 2004 Honda S2000. The 2004+ model years of the S2000 have a different rear bumper than the 00-03 years. The difference is the dual exhaust cut-outs. A lot of s2000 owners change from an 04+ to an 00-03 rear bumper, mainly for the cosmetics of being able to run a single outlet exhaust(which nets you a gain in weight savings vs a dual exhaust) and being able to cover the other exhaust opening and it not look hideous. So, my question is, is it legal for me to change my OEM 2004 rear bumper to an OEM rear bumper of a model year 00 – 03 in ST?
I read the rules but it's not 100% clear to me...
Addition of spoilers, splitters, rear wings, bumper covers, valances,
side skirts, and non-functional sccops/vents is allowed provided that
either:
82 — 2011 SCCA NATIONAL SOLO RULES
1. It is a production part which is standard or optional equipment of a
US model of the vehilcle
2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog for
that vehicle for normal highway use.
Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact replicas
(including weight) from alternate sources are also permitted.
The first item 1. is where this is a bit unsure for me. Is "model" considered to be S2000 or "model" means the equivalent to MY(model year), in my case MY04. I read this as "model" meaning S2000, so in that case switching to an 00-03 rear bumper is permitted since it is a production part which is standard in "model" S2000. If it were the other way around would'nt it say "model year of the vehicle" ?
Thanks in advance!

BTW with the budget OEM cut cat back/down pipe, a PLM header, and Berk (or berk like) HFC the entire exhaust (header to down pipe) ends up weighing in the 25 - 30 lb range. You can't do too much better on weight and still meet the 100 dB limit. This setup came in at 97 dB at nationals (got the official warning
). The down pipe is key for it to work from a sound level perspective. Most of us that DD use a v-band, take off the down pipe and add a single or OEM mufflers back.

mega-budget exhaust = cut stock.

Would the AFR need to be looked at with this no muffler setup, just to ensure it doesn't get to any danger zones, 15's?
I'd imagine there's much less back pressure with no mufflers back there. Or am I completely off here.
Thanks
Do any of you have diy endlinks? I have searched for a thread so i could order the pieces but have not found what im looking for. Was wondering if someone has a parts list. Ive got one in the front squeekin like mad and i just dont think its gonna hold up to the 32mm bar.
