heck, I would do. But you and me are in an EVEN smaller minority. A 50-60k version of an S2000 8 years into production just wouldn't be a viable business proposition. Both you and I know that. Given the budget constraints, and the mission of the car, the CR turned out the best it could have.

[QUOTE=toofast4yalll,Apr 4 2007, 11:38 PM] vishnus11 - They add downforce at the cost of being hideous and adding weight.

The CR is beautiful, mathematically. Function over form, really. I am quite surprise at the amount of s2000 owners who find this appalling. I thought that's what the s2000 is all about.
Having slept on it and looking at the pics now, i am kinda warming to it. I wouldnt go so far as to say its beautiful though. I think my biggest gripe about the CR is that it is a disappointment after all the hype - admittedly, hype that this community created. The problem is not what we were eventually given, but what Honda didnt give us. Im not pissed at the CR, im pissed that it isnt what it could have been.

The spoiler looks no worse than the other GT wings on this site and the rims will end up on a lot of AP1/AP2s. The front bumper isnt that bad either - plenty of people run the Mugen/Spoon/Veilside bumpers (the more extreme ones I can think of).

Forget that this is a Honda product, if those parts were made by J's/Spoon/Mugen etc, theyd be eaten up and on cars before you know it. And they'd look good too!!

For a CR concept - it sucks. Its true, the target audience obviously isnt current S2000 owners.
For a factory modded AP2, it works quite well.

EAST FELLOWS EASY!!!!!!! lol....can't we all just get along??? my hod....anyway i'm also not a fan of the CR....personally think they basterdized the S2000 but hey it's hard to make a perfect thing better....the AP1's and AP2's were already spot on and it's obvious they started softening up the car with things like traction control, changing the seats, etc....the fun of that care is it's raw edge...to me this CR looks like something that a 12 year-old would built in need for speed underground....the biggest dissappointment has to me the hp staying the same...i know they shaved 90lbs of the car which is quite a lot, still would have liked to have seen some motor work to set it appart....the CR also looses it's appeal as a real roadster because it no longer has a convertible top just a removable hardtop....the suspension has been upgraded, but i'm sure that the tein flex i have on my AP2 w/edfc is still better than stock showas....and the wing is a little too aggressive for me....the tonneau cover don't get me started on....final view on this is: PLEASE DISCONTINUE THE S2K SO THAT THERE ARE NO MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO SCREW IT UP.....IT IS A BEAUTIFUL THING.....END IT NOW....AND LET IT GO DOWN IN HISTORY AS A CLASSIC!!!!!!!

i've been thinking a lot about the CR, and here are my final thoughts:

honda more or less (mostly less) executed what they were trying to achieve, quicker lap times, improved suspension, downforce etc. in that regard, i commend them. i've decided what really disappoints me is the execution of it all. apexi blue, first of all, is not an appealing color. the wing and lip, while functional, are very unappealing, and dont fit the flow of the car. the interior was taken in the right direction, but i feel that they stopped well short of their capabilities, and overall, left it unfinished, and rather ugly IMO.

that being said, since this is only a concept version, perhaps many of the downsides will be fixed, especially the ride height. Honda has several months to finalize their product before production, and lets hope that they do it right.

Again - that's not RACIST. You're referring to something CULTURAL - as in, asian people as a people like rice in their CUISINE and CULTURE. They aren't inherently BORN liking rice.

Southern slave owners were racist; they hated blacks for BEING black. Someone who says a car is rice doesn't hate asians for being asian.

There is a big difference in making fun of a culture and a race. For example, I do not like hip hop culture, and I make fun of the guys wearing XXXXXL white T-shirts where the sleeves start at the elbows. Every time I'm at a store where they are, be it a Wal-Mart or Target or something, I always make sure to pick one up and laugh at it with friends. Am I making fun of BLACK people? No. That would be idiotic for me to do it for that reason, because not all black people wear them. They weren't born, coming out of their mother's uterus wearing a huge oversized plain white T-shirt. It was their choice to buy one, and that's what I make fun of them for.

People are so quick to say something is racist, and it's these stupid politically correct values that is KILLING our nation. Nobody has the balls to actually speak out about anything, and the people who actually DO (republicans), do it stupidly.

Republicans do things their way, and democrats try their hardest to do things that republicans DON'T do. Everyone seems to vote for the party/candidate that they hate less. But these liberals are a real bunch of characters. They're even bigger pussies than the French (I hope you caught my sarcasm there). No, I'm not a supporter of either party.

To all you "That's Racist!" PC people out there, have fun voting for Hilary or Obama - come on now, we all know you're going to! (I'm profiling again! And look, I'm NOT being RACIST either! I'm just making fun of liberal culture, and all the college kids at my school with their broken down Civics and "(W)orst president ever" bumper stickers. Oh crap, I'm profiling AGAIN ).
Ok. I think you may have a point - Your statement was not "racist" in the absolute literal sense of the word.

But by at the same time, why is it ok to make fun of other cultures or social behaviors (which you yourself acknowledge to doing on a regular basis)? The problem here is someone at some point in this thread made a comment that people might find offensive. Why? because stereotypes and blanket statements don't serve any purpose other than to demean those being referenced. You might not be offended by it because the reference is not about your "group" or your "culture" but other people might. If this is considered being PC, then you can call me that. I just don't see any particular reason to make a joke at the expense of someone's culture, ethnic background or social group just because the wing of a car is ugly. Let's just call it that. unsightly. unappealing. fugly. stupid. crazy. huge. purposeless. But that's it.

If political correctness is killing our country, then intolerance and social prejudice is putting the nail on the coffin.

Well... BMW didn't have to bastardize the Z4 when making the Z4M to make go 2 seconds faster around a track with giant wings, bling rims, yellow stitching, removing the soft top, and adding giant scoops to the front now did they?

[QUOTE=camera obscura,Apr 4 2007, 05:45 PM] Dezoris, I'm not sure why your so hell-bent on correlating this car with what "appears" to be the trend of S2000 owners here on S2ki.

I just don't understand why everyone is having a stroke over it.
It's an AP2 with a body kit, different wheels and suspension.

It's exactly what most people on this forum change on their own cars.
Because Honda is following the trend on what is popular on this forum all of a sudden it's complete garbage?

My whole point was highlighting the other side.
Appearance mods are subjective and a matter of perception.

I personally see no difference what Honda did with the CR and what people do their own S2000s on here. And most of the general non-S2000 crowd would feel the same way.

Let them build the car so you can reap the benefits of retrofitting and be done.
most people have body kits, big wings, wheels and suspensions mods on this forum? what do you define as most people? 90%? 60%?

I see about 5 or 6 s2000s a day. I don't see many big wings, or weird body kits.

honda did not follow the trend. They follow a movie. are big wings or body kits the most popular mods on the forum?

The popular trend is mod for power and make it faster. I see alot more people who mod for power then a big wing.
