Well... BMW didn't have to bastardize the Z4 when making the Z4M to make go 2 seconds faster around a track with giant wings, bling rims, yellow stitching, removing the soft top, and adding giant scoops to the front now did they?

Vishnus, think you can tone it down a little. Some of your points about the car are valid, but I believe the community here does not need some of the personal attacks you've made.

Ok. I think you may have a point - Your statement was not "racist" in the absolute literal sense of the word.

But by at the same time, why is it ok to make fun of other cultures or social behaviors (which you yourself acknowledge to doing on a regular basis)? The problem here is someone at some point in this thread made a comment that people might find offensive. Why? because stereotypes and blanket statements don't serve any purpose other than to demean those being referenced. You might not be offended by it because the reference is not about your "group" or your "culture" but other people might. If this is considered being PC, then you can call me that. I just don't see any particular reason to make a joke at the expense of someone's culture, ethnic background or social group just because the wing of a car is ugly. Let's just call it that. unsightly. unappealing. fugly. stupid. crazy. huge. purposeless. But that's it.

If political correctness is killing our country, then intolerance and social prejudice is putting the nail on the coffin.
I would put money up to say that the people that are getting offended are not even in that culture. They're probably regular run of the mill white liberals that try and stick up for the little man. A lot of hispanic people that I know WOULD find that funny. A lot of the Mexican guys at one of my jobs have horrible riced out cars and I laugh about it WITH them.

I think that the bleeding heart liberals need to stop trying to stick up for everybody. Why don't they take a step back and let the accused get upset first.

There was a video posted recently in OT where a caddilac of some sort with 22-24" chrome rims was lining up at a drag racing track. Some hillbilly that was recording it laughed at the car and said that the axle was going to break. Well, sure enough, it did. The car went about 20 or 30 feet, the axle popped off while still attached to the wheel and rolled down the track, and you hear all these hillbilly types all laughing and making comments about the situation. Everyone posted in the thread for how stupid they were and how they looked for trying to drag a car with 24" chrome rims. I didn't hear anybody there going "HEY THAT'S RACIST GUYS, BLACK PEOPLE LOVE CHROME RIMS AND YOU CAN'T MAKE FUN OF THEM FOR IT!"

There are differences in cultures, and we're not going to agree with everything. That's why we have to be tolerant of them, however we don't have to AGREE with it. If you want to be outspoken about something someone else does, by all means - it's a FREE country, isn't it?

Here in the US we have freedom of speech, and I'll be damned if someone is going to tell me that I can't make fun of the guys wearing XXXXL white T-shirts and the huge baggy pants that you have to hold onto while you walk.

I am of hispanic descent and I did not find it funny.

And you are right, we have freedom of speech in this country and you are entitled to say anything that you want and make fun of anyone you like. But defending behavior that may be offensive, or doing it yourself in a public forums, is not right. Your example proves that. No reference to race, the joke was the axle snapping. The problem I have is that the joke here was that someone in this thread specifically referenced Hispanics and or Mexicans, and then you said no problem, it's a free country, it's ok to laugh at the expense of other cultures or social behaviors. That is not tolerant, like you claim to be.

I guess your redeeming quality is that you're an EQUAL OPPORTUNITY profiling jokester. This thread is about the CR, and that's percisely the reason why there is no need to make a reference to people's cultures and behaviors when talking about an inanimate object with no such associations. Let
