Doing a quick google search on used car buying shows a good rule of thumb is that dealers will mark up anywhere from $1000 to $2000 for each $10K of car.
Most likely the dealership marked up the price ~$2-3k, so don't expect them to discount that much. You could tell them your "walk out price" is $17k and they'll say it can't be done. Then ask them whats possible. They'll give you a number which would probably be like $20,000 and you say lets meet halfway which would bring you to ~$19,000. Doesn't hurt to try.

Is your mind set on getting this color and year? If not, wait it out a bit longer until you find that "perfect" S2000. I guarantee you it'll popup within a month or 2.

I offered $17,000 for the S2000 I listed above. The salesman says the best he can do is $18,700. If I offer $18,000 as my max, is that still to high for this car? Also, this is all through email.I have been to busy to go the dealer as its 45 minutes away. He says it is a own owner car in absolute mint condition.

Found a nice 01 s2000, but the front bumper has been replaced. The owner is also missing one of the extra key sets for the car, the car cover, and doesn't have the best documented history for the car. Other than these things listed, the car is perfect besided normal wear and tear.

If the seller is listing the car at $12,000 which is the exact KBB in good condition for this car, what should I offer him? Also, if the banjo bolt upgrade and retainers have never been done/replaced, is this somewhere where I could take money off of my offer to him?

Thanks

I found a BB 2003 s2000 with 60k miles that has been babied its whole life and is in perfect condition, 100% stock with all maintenance done. The owner is asking 13700 but will take 12500. Is it worth it? kbb is 16k and edmunds is 11k lol

I've been looking for an s2000 for the past three weeks, and I've been noticing edmund's velue is well below KBB. Also, NADA value is usually much lower than kbb, but NADA doesn't give you private party values. = /

KBB $ > NADA $ >> EDMUNDS $

And I would say that is a pretty good deal for that car

Hey, did you happen to see this on the Dallas/FT Worth Craigslist? I saw one similar on there.

I can't believe the deals some of you are getting on used S2ks. I work from home now, and own two cars, so my S isn't getting driven like it should be. I have been considering selling it, but can't get myself to. I have considered selling my Rabbit, and putting all seasons on the S, and using it in winter, but the thought of it seeing any snow, rain, salt, and ice makes me ill.

I need opinions on the following situation:

Guy is trading in his 03 silver w/ all Red 55K mile s2000 on a BMW next week. He said he would be able to take just over trade in on it. He also said the BMW dealership is giving him "Good" NADA trade in value on the car. I looked it up, and trade in on the car is $11,300.00

http://www.nadaguides.com/Cars/2003/...dard-Equipment

He said the BMW dealer is giving him 13,400 for the car.

I'm skeptical unless the BMW dealer is getting him on the tail end of this deal by raising the price of the BMW he is trading for.

Any thoughts

-Ryan
