the other problem is that the car is not local. i did find someone who will ship it to me for $600. its not going to be the end of the world if i dont get it. i know i will keep coming across ones i like.

Looks like it was really nice car before the telephone pole attacked it. It should be saved.

Thinking about taking a look at this in person tomorrow. I know there are a few scuffs on the front bumper and a dent on the rear bumper, driver side. I'm also aware of the seats. What should I offer if those cosmetic things don't bother me and the title is clean?

So what is a 2002 S2000, Sebring silver/black, with 34,000 miles worth these days? It seems to have had three owners and is in great shape other than a very small scuff on the front bumper. It's got full maintenance records from new and nothing weird is showing up there or in the CarFax. I have owned an almost identical S2000 for nearly 5 years and am helping out a friend with a purchase decision. I have looked over the car and everything seems well maintained and stock. As far as I can tell from the maintenance records it has never had any major work done to it so it is running on the original clutch. The tires look relatively new.

The seller (private) is asking $18k. That seems high to me for an early model. Is it worth it?

Salvage = Run Away (Any exceptions?)
There is one on craigslist that I found that is an 05 s2000 with about 49,000 miles on it and had been rear ended from the 1st owner and he is currently the 3rd owner.
All maintenance was done on time through his ownership and he claims no frame damage and drives completely straight.
He was asking for 13,500, but I got him down to 12,500.
Now the mileage and price isn't what that is concerning me. It's the rear end hit with no frame damage. Is there a way a rear end hit where it causes no frame damage to the point where it was salvage at one point?
Is it worth the trouble?

Does he have any pictures of car from the wreck?

Personally I stay away from salvage cars as much as possible, unless the vehicle is currently wrecked, and is the only accident that the car has ever been in. My dad runs a body shop and will occasionally purchase total loss cars, repair them, and then sell them with salvage titles.

He usually can tell if the car has been in a wreck in the past, but sometimes they are good at camouflaging old repairs (or lack thereof). He has bought a few cars, started fixing them, only to find more damage that was not repaired correctly, or at all. It's just something to be cautious of.

As far as frame damage, you could always take it on a test drive and run it by a shop, to have them throw it on a lift and inspect for obvious frame damage.

Looking at a 2002 black on black S2000 with 92,000 miles, one owner, all keys, cosmetically very good inside and out, complete maintenance records, BRAND NEW TOP, one accident reported at 35,000 miles (left rear impact, vehicle towed away). Asking price is $13,900 (from dealership). The accident makes me nervous, but then again the car has gone 60,000 miles since then.
