Looking at a 2007 NFR at a Carmax near me. From the pictures it looks really clean. Bone stock with 54,000 miles and they are asking $22,599. KBB has it "valued" at $17,xxx, Edmunds at $20,xxx and NADA at $21,100.

And since it's at a Carmax you can't negotiate on the price. I REALLY want one in LBP but I did have an AP1 in NFR almost 3 years ago and really grew to love the color. My only concern is that a LBP will pop up after I get the car.

Should I get it or should I wait? That is the question. lol

Looking at these..

1) 2 owners, 2002 with 95k miles, clean title. owner had it for past 10 years. paint is good except little blemishes here and there like on the bottom part of the front bumper where it's been hit on dips and stuff. a lip would cover it though.
soft top in good condition, glass. interior in good condition, bolsters are in good condition also, no rips or tears. minor wear.
everything is stock. clean carfax, no accidents.

California car, price is $11,000.
I wish i could take a look at the valve retainers because if theyre cracked its going to cost a pretty penny to replace with ap2 retainers. tires are 50% or more but i'm going to swap them out whenever I get wheels or ap2 wheels. I really wish the car had ap2 wheels to come.

Good selling point is that it's all stock, unmolested and has "low" miles particularly for an ap1.

2) There's also one listed in the marketplace here in SD. 2001 berlina clean carfax. 120k miles, comes with ap2 wheels and a new robbins top. The Ap2 wheels i actually do consider a positive but not by much. interior is in worse condition than the car above, higher mileage.
Price is $11,400obo. Farther away, also has an aftermarket pressure plate and clutch which always makes me raise an eyebrow. Owner says it was not boosted though. Could have been just a maintenance replacement of clutch.

As you may or may not know, CA has higher prices on these cars. So all you CA folks, what say you?

I've been looking around lately for a s2k and I just found a 2003 with 60k miles on it. Bone stock with a brand new clutch. Car had a rear accident and the paint doesn't match well on the trunk but I think for the price this car still seems like its worth it. Car has a clean title no frame damage from the accident. Drove it and it shifts pretty nice. Just like my old rsx it had some slight notchyness but nothing to bad and im assuming this is normal. Is there anything I should be looking out for specifically for an 03? If not does this seem like a good deal to you guys

carfax it. drive it on a straight level road and take your hands off the wheel and make sure it drives true.
crawl under the car and look for bent suspension components. if carfax and inspection comes clean, i would offer $10k and take it home. good deal at 10.2

Just for comparison, I just bought a 03 in GPW with 103k for $10,000. Clear title, no accidents on the CarFax. It did have hail damage that was poorly repaired, and the front bumper appears to be repainted. The rockers under the fenders are pretty beat up from bottoming out.

Definitely not a perfect car, but the frame and engine all seem to be good. Interior is decent. Top could use a replacement. Also came with coilovers, intake, full header and exhaust system, alpine headunit with new speakers all around. Wheels are in rough condition, but tires are good.

I feel like I overpaid by $1,000. Only reason I paid what I did was because it was GPW on tan. If it was any other color I would have walked away.

edit: I would just be cautious of that rear end accident. Get under the car and confirm that you don't see any marks on the frame from being on a frame rack.

Given that it's been in a wreck, I'd run both a Carfax and an Autocheck.

I test drove an SUV last summer that had a perfect Carfax, but Autocheck showed it as salvaged (dealer later confirmed that).

I don't think either is 100%, so better to have both.

Another thing to consider is your region. Prices seem to vary a lot by location.

I got my '00 GPW for about $12k two years ago (57k miles, one owner, no wrecks).

Looking at this one:

04 Suzuka
43k miles
Near perfect apart from a little curb rash.
No door dings no accidents (all vins match and all gaps are perfect.)
Maintenance records and no mods
He's asking $17500 I got him down to $16800

KBB: 16800
Edmunds: 11,966 ( seems crazy low)
NADA ***TRADE IN**** 13,775

This would be my 3rd S2k (sold the others) so I know what to look for but I'm worried in 2 years this car will be down in the 12k range.
I guess it depends on the market in your area and the people involved, but I just bought a 2003 SSM bone stock with 46k miles near mint condition last weekend for $14,500. KBB seems to be notoriously high when it comes to these cars. Seems like the market is typically a grand or two above NADA. I would offer closer to 15k. Or is that really the difference between AP1 and AP2 in pricing?
AP2's go for more money than AP1's in general, so $16,800 is actually not a bad price for that car by the sounds. This is a rare case where KBB is right on market value--Since it overvalues the AP1, and undervalues the newest AP2's (06-09)--there is bound to be a sweet spot for the 04-05 models in the middle where KBB is fairly accurate.

In the Bay Area it seems low mileage (30-60k) 04-05's are going for $2k to $6k more. There's been a bunch popping up at $18k to even $22k. Ouch. Don't know how much they are actually selling for (one has been listed for quite some time however.)
