That is a great price on paper. Enough of a great price that "overall good" condition probably does not mean "very good" or "excellent." Certainly worth looking at!

bump, anyone have any thoughts on this s2k? it has high mileage but from what ive read on here and other places if it was well maintained the miles mean nothing.

I'd say if you can get the price down to $10,000 even *and* the car is mechanically sound (especially the engine), it could be a good buy and make a nice daily driver for you. Get it looked over by a professional as thoroughly as possible, including a full inspection with a compression test. I'd budget $1,000 to have the softtop replaced, and that's if you can have someone install a secondhand one for a reasonable amount--if you do it yourself, you could probably get a new one for that or less and save the labor cost, but it might not be an easy job.

UPDATE: 05 gpw with airplane cockpit http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto/4337574800.html

So I went to go check it out nd I expected to a bad neighborhood but instead I find myself in a classy (rich) neighborhood haha right next to a big country club. But anyway I show up the the guys house damn the car looked amazing didn't expect that from the pictures on the post. Checked oils nd fluids they all looked fine, clean engine bay if it had the stock intake would've look very clean, there was some scratches on the front lip but I didn't mind that other then that the body was clean, 2 rims had curb rash but I didn't mind that either. He showed me a clean carfax. He took me one a ride because I didn't have the cash in had but the ride was smooth as hell couldn't even notice the gears change thought I was in a automatic s2k haha but everything looked good on the ride he gave me as for the gauges they all work, I thought I was gunna hate them but I'm not gunna lie they look NICE haha. He was an honest looking Asian guy cool to talk to nd definitely know his way around a car he had all his oils right there next to all the stock parts, nice clean garage. He had all the tools that it comes with in the trunk along with the spare nd all the papers you get from the dealer. Definitely was worth to go check out nd now were planning on taking it to a shop nd if everything checks out well negotiate price.

Thank's for the reply, I think i'm going to try to talk him down to $9-$9,500. I'm not too worried about the soft top I read up on how to fix it yourself with some vinyl patches but if its pretty bad then ill look into getting it replaced.

Looking at this one:

04 Suzuka
43k miles
Near perfect apart from a little curb rash.
No door dings no accidents (all vins match and all gaps are perfect.)
Maintenance records and no mods
He's asking $17500 I got him down to $16800

KBB: 16800
Edmunds: 11,966 ( seems crazy low)
NADA ***TRADE IN**** 13,775

This would be my 3rd S2k (sold the others) so I know what to look for but I'm worried in 2 years this car will be down in the 12k range.

I guess it depends on the market in your area and the people involved, but I just bought a 2003 SSM bone stock with 46k miles near mint condition last weekend for $14,500. KBB seems to be notoriously high when it comes to these cars. Seems like the market is typically a grand or two above NADA. I would offer closer to 15k. Or is that really the difference between AP1 and AP2 in pricing?

NADA generally seems to be the most accurate.

If it only drops $4000 in 2 years, thats really not that bad, compared to buying a brand new car and looking at the value 2 years later.

The number of S2000's on the road is going down, I wouldn't worry too much about the value lowering. Prices seem to be going back up, and I think they will continue to do so over the next few years at least.

I agree with both of you. I think they will hold their value for a while I just want to make sure I don't overpay in the first place. NADA ***RETAIL*** has it listed at 16,700 so if thats what you guys are going off then we are in good shape. Thanks for the help guys.
