7 balmy degrees here this AM. Things are pretty iced over, but thankful we didn't get the same amount of snow as Boston.

Enjoy your snow, Dave. Rick also made a path to the feeders for me. I took a few minutes this AM to fill a feeder and tossed some seed on the ground too. One feeder was frozen so I left it in the house to thaw. Will tend to it tonight.

I was thinking last night that it seems so long ago that I was cruising in my S in a t-shirt with the top down.

For the first time in 165 years, San Francisco recorded no measurable rain in January. Santa Cruz normally gets 6 inches of rain and likewise got none. SoCal got a little rain in January, but not our usual amount during what is normally the wettest month.

Let’s hope you get rain! The water situation could be getting worse, particularly for Southern California...
There are proposals to the Colorado legislature that will allow, when it is needed, the development of state water project(s) using Colorado River water for municipal use(s) on our eastern and western slopes. Today the extraction of Colorado River water is primarily used for agriculture but maybe not in the foreseeable future as our population and water demands grow.

We haven’t seen an end to water rights litigation -- it will become fierce.

Yep. In the meantime, hoping the possibility of a good soaker reportedly on its way will help. It won't hit SoCal, but should help NorCal (hopefully without flooding) and the Sierra snowpack.

hey it's snowing, lightly mind you, but they are predicting another 4-6 today and tonight..
you know annoyance snow.

Awoke and went to the bathroom this morning.
Why is the water in the toilet running....?
No it's not. Hmmm What is running ?

Head for the cellar, one of the outdoor faucets apparently froze and popped.
At least the water was all outside. So water is shut off now and I'll deal with it in the spring when it warms up.

We've been here 15 years and never had anything freeze.
You’re fortunate to have shutoff valves for the outside water bibs. Water for the entire house had to be turned off when I experienced the same…oh yeah; it was fixed the same day.

razzam fratzem shiddle boogers

lost another outdoor faucet, same scenario, hear water running WTF
time to go shut the other ones off too.

I'm really confused on why this happened. not the physics per se but why after 16 years when we've had much colder weather before.

10 degrees, was 0 this AM.

We are expecting a three day snowstorm. Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Hopefully, just a little each day, but could accumulate up to 12". Not sure where it can end up. My street is still about 1 1/2 lanes, with a nice layer of rutted ice as a base for the new snow.

Those old lady boots I bought a couple weeks ago are getting plenty of use.

You NE folks are really getting hammered this year, while we in the Mid-Atlantic have dodged the bullet so far. Spring will be here before you know it!

Spring might be THERE, but I'm not so sure if it will ever arrive HERE.

We are expecting similar snow fall this weekend. I have areas next to the driveway that are almost waist deep. Glad the snow blower is running well this year, but I'm getting tired of needing it on a daily basis.
