No probs Juan, I didnt mean you - I know others will be on soon to flame it though

Again, I have spoke to them and they have guaranteed they can replicate it on an S2000 with breathing mods (discussed mine and they were happy with that)

I know the car has been tuned in the US for many years, so will keep you posted as I may trial this ECU on mine.

ah ah, that kit car would be mine

the 30 bhp gain is from around 5000rpm
here's the figures from the dyno

3000rpm 74bhp roughly similar to stock
4000rpm 108bhp starting to rise against stock
5000rpm 149bhp thats 30bhp up over stock
6000rpm 182bhp thats 30bhp up over stock
7000rpm 204bhp the gaps starting to close but is still up over stock
8000rpm 222bhp the gaps just about gone now

obviously everyone's dyno plots will differ slightly with the one i used for comparison, check your plot and see what your making at 5 and 6000rpm you might be surprised.

these improvements are made on the standard engine, the only difference is the intake and the exhaust manifold, both of which are probably poor in comparison to the aftermarket equipment available to you guy's.
i should have been back on the rollers on wednesday but it has now been put back to next week.
I've been discussing the intake today with Richard and he agree's that this could infact be sapping a few bhp so for the next run it will be removed.
The exhaust manifold has no method behind it's design, and has been made just to fit the car rather than made to improve performance.

The only other difference is the ecu which is an Hydra and has been mapped by Richard Bulmer , he's a wizz with these ecu's and has recently got over 400bhp from a civic type r supercharged grasstrack car.

if anyone want's to see th edyno plot for my car it's available to view here

also for those that may be interested the car is now only 96.9db's at 6000rpm due to fitting a larger diameter silencer and almost twice as long, once the cars been back on the rollers with the new silencer and no air filter i'll post the results for you all to look at.

thanks
Chris

It is definitely possible to gain 30hp midrange by moving vtec and tuning.

I agree...

When people say 30hp gains, it is misleading...I assumed it would be mid range, just like Hondata states something like 14hp gains...but its in the midrange.

With an EMS those kind of gains are not hard to reach, especially with some other aftermarket parts. What becomes difficult is finding more power above 7-8k and then into 9...

The intake mani plenum is just too small at that stage to really pull more power out of. Its either ITB's or a Full Race Intake Mani which doesn't exist to the public.

edit* and cams...cams will start to run out of steam as well...but as we have seen in this thread, the stock cams and intake mani can continue making power into higher rpm's. However, I just think they become real limiting factors at that point.

But I haven't seen anyone produce these results with an AE on an essentially stock engine?!

All I hear from most is that dropping the VTEC point more than a few hundred rpm's is detrimental to the power of the car. Im not a regular on the US side of the board, but id be interested to see if anyone has doent his with another ECU?

Well today I ordered a J's header from AJR. A buddy of mine from the local Atlanta club and I are both getting one and saving on shipping.

This Saturday I'm putting on my 4.77 dif, Hondata IMG, and installing a VAFC2 (will leave stock settings). After my gears set for a couple hundred miles I'll do some dyno pulls and tuning and let you all know how I do. I know the gears will have my power read slightly lower but I'm still hoping to hit at least 225!

Have fun with the Hondata IMG, I did that yesterday and what a b. I was changing the coolant and thermostat (mugen) at the same time...but damn...getting that intake mani of is a pain.

How much horsepower is freed up when going with a lighter flywheel?
