the Official "NA Tuning" thread
Hehehe, who knows. Someone else from this thread, I'm sure. Thatd make this mint VAFCII an S2ki artifact!!!
Louie, a shot?? Huh? Anyways, who is the tuner in UP you referred to? Lets get our Emanages and get down to TF this month!!! There is a BLUE in the FS section now I was referring to, but now I am not sure between that and an Ultimate! AH!

Hahaha I see.
Why do you want the Ultimate?
Baller? Hardly. I'm trying to buy a used BLUE!!!
Does SpeedFactory have a dyno?
I think I am going to tune it at TF, then dyno at your Mustang in Vancouver on the way home... Dayam I still don't know what kind of dyno I want to run on. One with the wheels still on... So either Mustang or... Dynojet? Which reads higher?

I wonder why the TF Dynoday read so low... They were all 198-204 whp.
AP2s on an average day with different intakes. Oh well!
Ben @ AJ-R is encouraging me to keep my Buddy Club ECU.
Does anybody here have experience or opinions?

I just got off the phone with Jason @ TorqueFreaks.
First off, I'd like to say he was a very polite and informative guy. Whether I tune there or not, I'll probably go there to dyno just for his attitude.
He was up front in saying that the BLUE would be everything I needed, and then some. Even if I am blown down the road. He said the datalogging of the EU is nice, but not necessary if you have a proper tune and don't track a whole lot. He also said the ability for 2 maps is nice, but it's quite a hassle toggling through and confirming the map changes. It's not as effortless as it should be.
He said for someone with a setup like mine, a VAFC would be just fine. It will achieve similar peak power and mid-range. He said the AEM EMS would even give similar numbers, but would improve drivability whereas the others will not.
He said that with his experience, there is only room for maybe 1-2 degrees of advanced timing on an S2000 (running the 92 fuel we have here). He said that would net a few ponies, but they would be expensive ponies.
At the end of the day, I will keep my eyes open for a used BLUE. If nothing comes up soon (Kinetica
), I will keep my Buddy Club ECU and just tune for AFR and VTEC engagement.
Here is an email from Ben @ AJ-R regarding my concerns about the BC ECU and the Emanage:
"The reson I recommended the BC instead of Greddy is becasue the stock ECU will compensate after we move the timing curve."
^ Can someone please explain that for me?
Does that mean when we adjust the timing with an Emanage, the stock ECU will still go back to original timing curves?

Mang... I paid like $500 for it (V-Con is another $50).
It's still new in the box... You know how I do...
I'd sell it to you for $430? Ben really recommends it over the Emanage. I don't know why I have this urge to go Emanage now... Grrr. The best thing about it is that Ben has a good rate for tuning, does a great job, and is semi-local for you for when you want it tuned.
