That sure sounds different! Hey, I drive like I'm driving a FWD car so I can't talk.

I thought that when I saw your video from nationals, but it gets the job done that's for sure.

Well, from the sound of it, I got some searching to do to figure out what to run.

I'm currently running the HPS pads, and I do see ABS freeze in those same conditions someone had earlier said.

That being said I do run on concrete 75% (give or take a few %) of the time when I auto-x so would that warrant running a more aggressive pad?

If you are currently running HPS pads and you're getting into the ABS I don't see any reason not to go back to OE pads... well, maybe one reason is if you want to enter the Hawk contingency program at tours.

I like non-OEM pads for the better pedal feel.

I have BHP's on my car and absolutely love them. They do dust a lot and squeak at low speeds (my neighbors love them...)

I've driven my mom's 07 on stock pads and absolutely hate them. It felt to me like I was burying the pedal in the firewall to get the car to stop (comparatively speaking of course).

man, it is so hard to resist a mom joke.... argh... anyway, my 07 had stock pads, and i have had the same experience on r888's & stock re050's. with my CR, i just went right to the hawk pads.

While ultimate braking forces will be the same, I also prefer the feel of performance aftermarket pads. I generally like the increased coefficient of friction for a little extra initial bite. Although as mentioned, the pads (DS2500) dust and take a touch of heat to work best; they haven't squealed yet.

+1 to this and Rodney's post

When I was running my 06 in Stock, I found that on the OE pads it was real easy to engage ABS ice-mode if I went too deep into a corner. I couldn't tell if it was due to the quick engagement of that much pedal travel, or if abruptly hammering the brakes caused the rears to unload, lock, and make the ABS computer freak out.

Regardless, I ran Carbotech Panther+(still have some with some material left, since replaced by the AX6) on the front when I auto-xed it. They were really loud and dusty, but worked great, and my ABS ice-mode issues all but went away. Because of the noise/dust, I swapped them in and out at the event, but it only took about 2min extra per side.

I would not recommend Hawk HPS. I tried them thinking they would be a good compromise between street/auto-x that I could leave on the car at all times. While they were quiet and not too dusty, they had less feel and bite than the OEM pads IMO.

Ha ha ha... It looks like I'm just used to the crap CRX brakes because I find the stock brakes to be pretty terrific.
