Yep, the same amount of metal or less.

I think the rule is kinda silly in the ST (and now SP) context where you're allowed to replace control arms. Most of the nice and simple aftermarket control arms are rod-ended. In plenty of cases they are quiter and longer-lasting than their poly counterparts.

what? you don't think I should machine a block of delrin for that one?

eyeballing most of the stuff in the rear makes me think I could get away with making delrin bushings, but I'm not sure if I'll have enough wiggle room for the eccentrics in the LCA. I might want to keep some kind of compliance.

Google didn't turn up much. Nothing on flea-bay other than steering rack bushings. There is some "spoon" bushing set: http://www.rhdjapan.com/jdm-low/Spoon-Susp...AP1-Zenki-56589 but it looks like an aweful lot of metal. Might not be technically legal. (I assume ST still has something silly like requiring the same amount of metal as stock?)
I think I forgot one important part of that description - the donut rotates about that axis - but its pinned in place with a bolt right through the middle of the donut. If you put delrin there - the suspension literally won't move.

Take a look at it next time you are under the car.

Next fun one - since we aren't allowed to chance the tie rod in the back - what do you AP1 guys have planned to help with dynamic rear toe? I'd be looking pretty hard at some kind of adjustable upper control arm or upper ball joint. Set the toe link and lower control arm at the spots that produce the least amount of toe-steer and adjust camber up at the top of the hub.

Dude, I was totally being sarcastic about making the caster link solid, I know what it looks like.

As for the dynamic-dorifto-rear-toe... I dunno. I

I was wondering about this. Spaf had gone the other way for BSP to get top end gearing (70mph in 2nd gear), but I wonder if having more effective horsepower at 30mph wouldn't be a better payoff...
My mph in 2nd was ~64 with the 295 A6's and a 8600 rpm revlimit (AP2). 295's were only worth about 1.5mph over the 285's; I found the car much more driveable at the limit on the 295's.

I would expect a +45 9" wheel to be pushing it in the front with the ST fender allowances unless you're running ~-4.0deg of camber or at higher than necessary ride height.

TheNick's spring rates look roughly in the rage I would expect.

A good LSD will make a difference.

I certainly wouldn't consider running staggered tire sizes.

Sorry Jim - haven't met you in person yet and sometimes the internet doesn't quite do a good job with personalities

Just ask Marc P (sirbunz) about the difference between me on the internet and me in real life

You will be in Lincoln in September right?

BTW guys - you can just call me "Nick" or Jackass - I answer to both No need for a formal "TheNick"

Jason U - what did you end up with for a VTEC transition point? I don't exactly have time for a dyno right now but I plan on starting at 5600...

About 4k. I think it'll be tough to get it down that low with ST allowances.

I mean I can get it that low - but I think your point is that without SP mods (better ECU and ITB's) it won't be worth having it that low right?

Nick, yeah, I'll be in Lincoln but I'm not draggin my S2000 out. Just going to fly in and drive Tim Smith's ST civic in STX.

Jason, sounds like I'll want to wait for the high offset 6ULR wheels to come out. I'm not going to try to mill any depth off the back of the RPF1, I forgot that S2000's are brake caliper clearance challenged.

I will likely pick up some 17x9 6UL's and some 255 Yoks to try on my car to see if its worth doing (i.e. can I stand leaving my current ride, a DP Miata to run on street tires)once the wheels actually come out. I'd rather not shell out the $$ for Volks or SSRs if I can avoid it.

I've already got the car on 900f/750r springs on my Penske 8300's, and have developed a light exhaust option from when it was an AS car. Additional weight reduction and power adders would only happen if the "testing" goes well. Good news is I have Hollis in my region to compare to. I'll be certain to update with lessons learned along the way.
