Just because I want to try something else. The valving on them is very nice. I would tweak them a little here or there but I'm not sure if the actual construction/design allows what I want.

Penske's
Ouch, the class turns official and there are already 2 S2000s on Penskes... Why couldn't it be like ST and take years before people started migrating away from Konis...

Well, it looks like there will definitely be some cars/drivers to follow in the development of STR, although IMO, people are starting with the wrong cars

If I get back to the US next year, I think I'll buy a set of wheels to play in STR, but will limit any mods to those that are BS friendly or easily removable/undoable. Unless someone needs a co-driver to share expenses

James: 3 at least on Penskes: Jim, Drew, and now Nick. I've thought about switching to STR just because having Penskes with threaded seats already would make adding springs so easy.

I kind of got a deal I couldn't pass up. I really wanted to do the Bilstein thing though. I think you can get 99% of the shock for a 3rd of the price.

The biggest problem with all this is finding someone willing to do the valving the way I want to. Not the way THEY want to...doesn't really matter what the brand of shock is - finding a builder for them is the hard part.

Greddy Ti-C single went on yesterday - my goodness what a great sound. I wouldn't mind driving it 6+ hrs without the silencer. With it in - I bet you can't even tell there is an exhaust on the car.

After installing two sets of Koni Yellows I really can't stand them, I honestly don't see why anyone would spend the money on yellows and waste an entire day installing them (4-6hours cutting and drilling), plus coilovers feel much better to me and usually have more adjustability without springs rattling around (Ground Control).

Our STU classes were never all that competitive from what I can remember, STS reigned supreme with STX trailing behind closely. Can't say much for PAX, I was always concerned with RAW time IMO PAX was never that well setup for cars on street tires.
um wat?

I never cut or drilled anything and I can have the complete suspension off the car in less than an hour. Spring swaps take 1.5hrs and nothing rattles around.

The valving on the revalved Yellows is nearly spot on and you can run up to 1000lb springs and the car is still extremely streetable. In fact - I took my car for a couple hour trip yesterday.

Little bit easier for me. Shouldnt be a problem to rebuild and change the shim stacks after initial valving. Mine are getting built up right now.

Whats the weight on the Ti-C?

Listed weight is 23lbs. Rear section comes off pretty easily to drop 7-8lbs I guess. Doesn't seem nearly that heavy when you have it in your hands.

If installing with the stock top hats, dust boots, and bump stops then you do have to drill for the larger Koni shaft. I don't know what has to be cut.

Once the initial instalation is done then the Yellows take the same time as any other.

So it takes longer than 5min to put a bit in a drill and run it through the stock top hat?

I did it so long ago that I don't remember a thing about it.
