Hey guys,

Long time lurker, First time poster here. The s2000 is my dream car but I'm kind of limited in my budget because I'm a college student. Last night, however I found one close to me that is being sold for a very reasonable price. What do you guys think? Of course there are issues, but that's why the price is what it is... So, should I pull the trigger or stay away?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

2002 with 126k miles - $7,000 firm.
A couple rips in the soft top and a tear in the driver's seat. Title is clean, but the carfax shows it was in a couple accidents. (I guess that explains the incorrect fitting of the aftermarket fenders where they meet the front bumper) The last 3 are pics I took of the tears but I can't upload them on here - They're too big.

Wow really only 12.8? They'll probably turn it around and ask for at least $20k.

I'm still looking for one but my guess is that you should be able to get $15~$17k for it private party.

Good luck.

That bad, huh?

Hmmm. Oh well. No matter what though, I'll be back here someday with an s2k.

Hi guys,

Inexperienced car guy looking at getting an S2000 and I came across this one, the problem is that it's in South Carolina and I live in Los Angeles so I'd have to pay $800 to have it shipped out just to test drive, but I was wondering if that would be worth it: http://www.carmax.co...id=A1SD10072013

Is this car worth the $20,000 they are asking for it? I like CarMax because of the 5 day return policy and 30 days of warranty.

Maybe someone who lives there can help me check it out?

Thanks!
I'd be willing to check it out for you but I believe Carmax prices are non-negoiable and that is a very high price for that car, in my opinion.
Let me know if you end up still interested and serious about it, I can help you out.

Edit: PM if interested, I don't read this thread often.
Thanks for the offer - seems it went already, though.

I had one more car in mind and was wondering if you guys think this would be worth the money they are asking: http://bit.ly/GMLl5q

$27,995 for a 2009 - seems a bit overpriced of course so I'll have to negotiate with them, but how much is it really worth?
That 09 GPW is junk.

All of the fenders are rolled/flared and one of the quarter panel looks to be buckled in.
Thanks. Do you think it'd be worth trying to get the car price dropped a lot because of those issues and then getting it fixed myself (checking with body shop how much that would cost and having them reduce because of that)?
Front fenders are easy to replace as they just unbolt and you bolt in the new one. But there is no easy fix to the rear quarter panels. Its going to be very labor intensive = expensive however you look at it. If you can have them bring the price below 20k its worth checking the car out in person otherwise avoid it at all costs.

Personally, I wouldn't waste my time on this car. There are plenty of clean/unmolested examples out there. Especially at that price range.

Take your time and don't rush into buying one. If possible, ask an s2000 owner to check the car(s) out in person and give you his opinions on it.
OMG I missed all that. Umm I was !!
Maybe it was formally hellaflushed.
M Motorcars always has at least half a dozen or more S2000s on their tiny lot at any given time, and half of those are usually yellow. Heck, they still have the Elise there which I put an offer on in June. Pretty car, but they will never get that price for it unless a sucker comes along. And the longer they sit on it, the more it costs them. I happen to know what they bought it for, and had they countered my offer with something reasonable, they would have made a very fast $1000 and had it off their lot in less than two weeks. But nooooooo....
EDIT: I guess my point is they habitually overprice their cars and while some are nice, just as many are less than ideal, and they don't like to come down in price.

Save 3 or 4k more and you can get yourself something pretty decent. This looks like the proverbial train wreck.

Yeah I just didn't know if I had found somewhat of a steal here, but I guess not. Thanks for the input.

Hello everyone,

I've been interested in the S2000 for a while now, and it's close to the time that I'm ready to buy one. But I've always been really bad at picking cars that happen to be way overpriced, so I've come to you guys.

They're listed in the order than I'm considering them in. Haven't gone and looked or test driven any of them yet. Just wanting some opinions before I drive a few hours in either direction to go see them.

2000 SSM 65k miles, had an accident back in 02, but beyond that clean CarFax - $12,688
http://www.drivekell...MAP114XYT008980

2003 SSM 63k miles, clean CarFax but has some mods (which more than not I've been told to stay away from). - $14,975
http://www.georgetow...own-KY/1407646/

I took a look at the "What did you pay for yours" thread, and all of these prices seem pretty high. What are your guys' opinions on them?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello,
Newbie here looking to switch from a Miata to S2000.

The s2000 where I live seem over-priced since the two I'm considering are about $5,000.00 over their Black Book value for my area (Alberta Canada)

Is this normal?
I'm concerned as this is an investment for me as I might have to resell it in the future to recoup some money.

Here are two that I'm considering but haven't test driven then yet.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
