If it's an independent dealership versus a Honda dealer, I would suggest having it inspected by a mechanic of your choosing that you trust or a Honda dealership just to know what all may or may not be working and present. Honda dealers generally have a pre-purchase inspection that's <$100 (usually $75) that they go over the whole car.

70k is "a lot" of miles. Not as far as reliability but def in regards to value. $17k is a decent investment

Why too good to be true?

I'm only saying its low compared to what most car dealers [this is a Honda dealer] are asking for these cars. They tend to be at least 2G or more above Edmunds.
Now, that's asking - I don't know what people are actually paying. This is a lower than normal asking price. That's what got my attention.

I'm thinking if you are interested in this car you shouldn't wait to go see it.

I spent months looking for an s2k and I've come across a lot of different prices and don't see how this sounds too good to be true. I've seen examples with less mileage going for similar pricing. If you wait for winter, you'll find even better deals.

i'll just keep saying it but the only reason to go to a dealership is to buy a brand new car. as for used cars, all they are there to do is charge you too much for a car they know nothing about.

Okay so heres the deal...

02 AP1 with 65k. MINT condition. Older gentleman owned it as a second car. Completely paid off - he is 1 year retired and is the former dean of a local community college. claims all maintenance is done and up to date. I drove the car as well as him he hit vtec a few times and everything seemed mechanically sound. no clutch buzz. it has a glass window. He's asking $14.5k. I have financing for 14k. I want to offer him 13k. I have a feeling he will say 14k is his lowest. Everything in the DC/MD/VA area is stupid overpriced. $14k is actually pretty reasonable. Does this sound fair?

Maybe I'm crazy, but 14.5k sounds like a good deal, especially if it is stock and unmolested.

it's a good year and $14k ain't bad if it's really as mint as you say. all i can see is upgraded wheels and front lip. any other mods?
