I'm not sure if it is a good buy, but what was she doing out of the kitchen?

Doesn't seem like a bad deal at all with the hardtop.

seem like a pretty good price since the hardtop alone worth about 2500+ assuming its an OEM one.

If it has a new soft top with the glass window (instead of plastic) and an OEM hardtop, that's a great price!

Yup, if its clear title and all body panels match that is an awesome buy. Crazy with a new soft top in there, you could sell the hardtop and you'd be in a $8000 dream of an S...Or make money and flip it. Im jealous, thats an easy $5k profit, maybe more. You crazy if you dont buy it!

2001 S2000 silver w red/black interior
28,xxx miles
1 female (mature/retired) owner
Top replaced by Honda dealership ~1 year ago w glass rear window
ALL service including synthetic oil changes performed at dealership
Completely stock
Garage kept
Was primarily used as a ~10 mile commuter to work
Nearly Immaculate condition, no door dings, no previous body repairs
All documents, keys, etc included
Tonneau cover was never used

Only flaws are a small knick/scratch in the paint on one side and slightly hazed headlamp covers

This is all info from the owner (colleague's mom), I have yet to see the car outside of pictures...but I have no reason to doubt her. After talking to her on the phone, I can tell that she has a strong emotional attachment to the car and has cared for it like it was a child.

Price is $16,500. I think I can get it for $16.

Thoughts?
Based on my search about a month ago (looked for solid 1-2 months), a fair price for that car would probably be anywhere from $9-$11k based on condition, history, and model year alone - assuming a car with an average amount of miles on it (usually anywhere from 80-100k miles, for the year). I'm not good at evaluating low mileage cars, as they don't personally hold as much value to me as they do a lot of other people, but the question you could probably ask yourself is: is it worth my $5-6k to get the reduced miles?

If you really want a cream puff to buy and hold onto, it becomes an easier decision, since nice examples with <30k miles on them are going to become vanishingly rare in the years to come. Especially AP1s, if you would actually prefer that.

Either way, it sounds like it's been very well cared for and loved, so from a perspective of car condition/prospective reliability, I don't think you can really go wrong with this.

I thought it was. I have done my research and i know the S2000's are amazing machines. But I think the hard part is talking the wife into it. lol. She thinks a chevy 1500 hd, her bmw 328i, my 98 eclipse gsx is enough. But I think we have just enough room for the S2K.
