I haven't been active in this thread for a while but given the knowledge I've gained, I feel so many people are focused a little to much on the peak numbers rather than the overall area under the curve. Just a thought, I think it's important with people having different graphs with similar peak numbers to compare the overall area.

THANK YOU!

thats why I'm concerned about how other headers compare to the J's. Everyone buys it cuz its got the huge piping, but changing piping diameter moves your powerband. I want to see how it works with 2.0L vs. 2.2L and with different supporting mods...

Just for comparison my current parts that actually effect performence, and soon to come parts:

AEM V2, Hondata Gasket, 3 inch custom exhaust(single), toda flywheel, act street clutch kit, 03 clutch slave, berk's test pipe

soon to come: custom 4-1 header design i've been working on(expect to see better gains then the J's header, especially up top ) I cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!
70mm TB w/ matched ported and matched manifold.
aem ems tuned
4.44's
complete head work
spoon headgasket

I believe with this set-up I'm looking for something around the 250-260whp range. I also believe it's very doable.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE NUMBERS ON THAT SETUP!

I doubt you'll see that much peak hp, but it will certainly be fast.

Highrpmek - youre totally right about the importance of power below peak, but this thread is just for fighting peaj #s haha.

Base map for S2000 adds 20hp? Def not.

OT but what's the benefit of the 03 clutch slave?

Hey no problem with the EMS info guys...and AEM can claim whatever they want. Its not a 20hp increase, but the area under the curve is much bigger, and peak numbers area higher. But 10hp is about what you'll get on average. More is available, it just depends on how you want it tuned.

Again, overall area under the curve is where the EMS really makes a difference, and I'm sure I've said this before too. For comparison, my 2.0L is making more torque with only the EMS, intake, exhaust-testpipe and flywheel; then most 2.2L's make with intake/exhaust-pipe. And a good amount over what a stock 2.2L makes. Every other S2k owner I've let drive my car always mentions how much torquier it is then there S2k. There is just more low end power and a broader curve.

As for that 250-260whp with Intake, 3"exhaust, testpipe, custom header, 70mm TB, EMS, and headwork. That will definitly be pushing it, I don't think you'll get that high of a number although maybe if you rev the 2.2 to 9k you might be getting closer to the 250 mark, but still. The intake manifold is a restriction, and you'll probably need a little more compression as well. Whatever you do, 250whp N/A is pretty damn quick. With me at my 225whp or so, I raced a stock STi (expecting to win as we are pretty close stock) and continued to pull away. This is at 5000ft elev. where they have the advantage being F/I and don't loose AS MUCH power due to altitude. I would expect a 250 N/A whp S2k with 4.56's to be somewhere in the 12.5 range in the 1/4. I hope to eventually be there.

That 1/4 mile time seems pretty fruggin fast... But I hope it's feasible.

What speeds was your run with the STI at?
Silver - You know the drill. PM me if you're interested in Supertech.

I'm basing that 1/4 on the Speed Magazine thing
They had an S2k that pushed 220-225whp in the mag, the lowest HP one there. I think he had 4.77's and ran a 13.0. There is also weight reduction there as well. But I think it is feasible, 250whp, 4.56's, <2650lbs, a good launch and fast shifting, should be able to pull it off.

The STi run I was mentioning was actually tonight...its a friend and we just wanted to see how we compared. The run was 0-95 or so, I forget if I shifted to 4th but I don't think I did so redline in 3rd. He didn't have the greatest launch, actually it wasn't even a good launch, especially for an STi. But he is stilll getting used to it. I had a decent launch, stutterbox at 5500 and dump; jumped ahead which is fine and doesn't mean a whole lot. But, I kept pulling in 2nd and 3rd which did mean something. Other times I've raced STi's I've had similar outcomes where they will have me at the launch but I'll pull out ahead or from a roll I'll just keep them behind me.

And ya, I'm interested in all the sponsorships, the problem is that I just don't have any money right now to devote to anything. It's tough, I want to...but just can't, and I'm just going to keep working hard. Little present I did just give myself was PC'd wheels, nothing now until probably summer, which then will be a hardtop and removed softtop/components

well the 05/05's come with a delay valve in the cylinder. This causes the clutch to slip for a second between hard shifts at redline. The swap to a previous cylinder eliminates this delay. Overall feel of the shift is improved, and the grab is quick with no delay. It really does improve the shifting for the 04/05's if they do this mod and eliminate that delay valve. Gives the edge in pull during shifts.
