Oh and for proof on these numbers, I think Europe is right. It all depends on the type of Dyno.
I'll probably use a Mustang. It keeps the wheels on (I want to know what my BBK, tires, wheels, etc. add to the equation), they're more available to me, and I want to compare to Louie (Version). I know they read higher, so I may do a Dynojet as well to compare equally.

But for starters, here is my theory.
Newer AP1s dynod higher because their ECU ran leaner. So...

2002 S2000 (VersionJDM)
K&N Filter
Berk Test Pipe
Spoon N1 Cat-Back
VAFCII Tuned
~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 220+/- rwhp. He dyno'd at 223 or something, but it was a different dyno. Going back to the orignal Mustang soon for comparable numbers.
Well, for me... ADD THESE:
Snorkel
Throttle Body
Hondata IMG
Header
Improve the Exhaust & Test Pipe
Lightweight Flywheel
Sure the IMG might no do crapolla, but combined, the added modifications listed above BETTER net me an additional 5-7 peak RWHP. If they don't, I'll be pissed.
That's my logic. I know every car is different. I'm in dreamland now, we'll see this Spring where it all gets me!
Nope I think you've got every bolt-on possible. I keep thinking about things I may be forgetting, but nothing comes to me
I hope were thinking of everything possible.
then again there are always other ways to get power to the ground. Much like a flywheel you could go with a lighter driveshaft. along with stiffer engine mounts, tranny mounts, diff mounts, and maybe a engine torque damper should help to get a little bit more power to the ground. Less play in the parts equals mre power being sent to the wheels.
I don'tknow if I want to take it that far though.
Makes no sense.... isn't the difference between all the MY ecu's just the a/f ratios? Therefore, if the 01 ecu is set to the same a/f ratios as the 04 ecu, you should have the same results. Then add in the extra 500rpms... and you have more hp since the ap2 doesn't lose power till then. (supposedly) Willie Gee and I will find out
Did you ever even drive with the 01' ecu before dynoing it? Or was it straight out of the ap1 s2k? The ecu needs to learn your car before you go dynoing it.
I drove about 45 minutes to the dyno with the 01 ecu. Tuned to about a 13.8 a/f ratio (more or less as the 04 ecu), power topped at about 8200 rpm and started dropping just around 8400. At 8600 it was making basically the same hp 7.7-7.9K.
Of note my ambient temp was 97F with over 60% humidity!
Will see if an EMS does any good in the near future.
Wyatth
Any reason for going with Buddy Club ECU and not J's, Mugen or AMUSE.
How much power you think this will add?
Comptech intake
J's header
J's 70RR
I say probably 15rwhp max lol.
you are very optimistic.
I saw a Best motoring Video with the Amuse S2000 performing some races, having all the amuse bolt ons the owner claimed a total 256 HP or 16 hp more than stock....
I have a cheap method to gain 2 to 3rwhp. Buy a bag of ice from supermarket, put it on top of the airbox and dyno it.
ok, sorry I don't always check this thread but to answer a few more questions.
I agree the HKS header probably didn't do much. The mugen ECU didn't hurt anything and in fact the dyno operator was amazed at how well the air/fuel ratios were tuned for a NA car. Rock solid between 13.2 to 13.8 the entire way, if I remember right. Remember UL has done dyno tests with the Mugen ECU before and has always shown good gains in the midrange. The Spec A Cams can be used with the stock ECU, just not stock valve springs (at least on an AP1). But I honestly think you need the adjustable cam gears to find anything worthwhile. I should add that on that second dynojet run, I also had the Spoon TB and all the Mugen Cooling Mods needed with the ECU.
I dont like the Comptech intake. That's just me, though.
It just doesn't seem like a strong design, regardless of their dynos and logic.
Yeah, I definitely dont want to go that far either with getting more to the groud. Flywheel, yes, but other crap, no. Haha.
J's, Amuse, etc. ECUs come preset for those mods.
The Buddy Club ECU is tunable like VAFCII or Emanage.
The ECU is in my room. I am not sure if it adjusts any timing or not, but I know it can change Vtec crossover, and set AFR and more points in the RPM range and with more throttle pressure.
And nobody else has one on the forum that I know of, so I thought I would give it a try!
they should come preset for their mods but not for the engine, every engine is different
