With all the talk about sidewall stiffness and 245s, has anyone considered the 245 Star Spec? Could this tire be the best of both worlds?

Unfortunately, I do not have the resources to take the risk to test the tire vs a 255. That being said, the NC is so much lighter than the S2K I feel it would be able to take advantage of the sidewall stiffness far more then our car. At 2900 lbs or more with driver, I still think that the car needs as much rubber as possible being put down.

If someone else can do the tests to prove otherwise then great, but at the moment I am going to stick with 255s.

Plus on the information I have seen, the 245 RS3 is still just as wide as the 255 so I don't know if the sidewall would really be that much better.

I had to beat the crap out of it to get the bearing back off then broke out the grinder and went to town. Then got it all back togeather. O also you can't re-use all of your swaybar bolts either, why you ask? Because he welds the side so close to the hole that you cant get the bolt in. I had to grind down the "built in washer" and then was able to put in the bolt. For $285 you would think they wouldn't require so much work and atleast include the 4 bolts you need. It would cost him a extra $1.25 at most.

I ended up using a media blaster to take the paint off. came off real good and didn't pit. I bet sanding would have taken a while though. For some reason I didn't have an issue with my flange bolts, but maybe the brackets were our of spec like you said

They are my tire of choice in STU, due to their stiffness on turn-in and their corner-exit grip. Going to a softer sidewall, like the RE-11, required early turn-in and more slip angle in the sweepers- quite a different driving style.

I'm still running the 255 Star Specs on my S2000. I'll continue to use them until the temperature gets up to 80+ and sunny, then I'll put the Hankooks back on and abuse their wider slip-angles.

As others have said, my Gendron bar and bearings went together perfectly. I purchased both almost a year ago.

It's still a proposal for 2012. There is no way for it to take effect before then.

And, if anything changes, it will be published in Fastrack. Available for free online. With automatic email notifications.

ok thanks, I've read/looked at the fastracks a couple times but 99% of the time it doesn't seem to pretain to us.

I decided to try the 245s. I have nothing to lose.

As much as I hated trying to install these ball bearing mounts, I wanted to reply back on my input since they have been on the car. I'm in love! before on the standard bushing I would rub the inside fender with my snow tire in a tight/compressed shock travel turn. Now it doesn't rub at all. It feels more firm and theirs no lag at all in a transition. Plus its set at one notch softer then perviously. So this is amazing! A better feel while using "less bar." I'm very happy with the feel of the car with these ball bearing mounts.
